Ryanair second bag max size is 35cm x 20cm x 20cm. It's either a second bag as part of your hand luggage or a bag of goods bought airside, but it's only 2 bags on boarding.

They do compulsory gate checking of bags when they reach their 90 full size bag limit, so either have your valuables in a bag inside ready to remove, or have them in your 2nd piece of hand luggage.

Jet 2 allow a small second bag eg handbag or bag of goods bought airside. Again it's 2 bags only on boarding.

Second bags have to go under the seat in front.

For Ryanair download the app to check in and store boarding passes. No wifi required to access them. They're stored on your phone.

If you consider this, if your bag was too big-you could put the contents into a strong dustbin bag . It's very squishy and takes up no room. :)ie don't worry.

Only go direct to security when travelling with Ryanair if you don't require a visa check.

If you buy the Priority Boarding thingy then they don't ask you to put your bag in the hold.
Otherwise it can be hit or miss.
Not expensive, imo. But an added cost.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Flew Bristol to Chania with Ryanair last week (first time with Ryanair, not bad at all). They didn't check weight or dimensions of hand luggage in Bristol but they did in Chania coming back, in fact they made us queue twice just to be sure. There was also some silly bint arguing about what constitutes a second bag because she wanted to bring her hand luggage, her handbag AND an airside shopping bag. After much shouting/aggression on her part they made her put in it her handbag but she wasn't happy.

I usually take hold luggage and then a largish ladies handbag that fits under seat to hold my electronics, passports and medication. My hubby takes a small backpack for everything else; food, emergency change of clothes and toys for little un etc

As far as I'm aware travelling with no hold luggage just means you skip the bag drop and go straight to security.
