I'm eating a co-op apple as the greengrocer is closed and I'm disorganised, I paid £1 for five decent size apples.

Co Op pack of wraps £1.29
    Waitrose pack of wraps 90p
    Guess where I went :)
But Co Op are cheap as chips for cigarettes £5.99 compared to £6.39 in Waitrose.
So its Co Op for ciggys and Waitrose for wraps.

    Iceland wraps 75p :D
    £36/£240
    £5522

The trouble with going back to the store is, I can't prove I only had two apples, if you see what I mean. The receipt will show the weight and not the quantity. But I'm not going back there again to do my shopping!!

Maybe prices vary according to area? Our local Co-Op don't do apples that cheaply.

I would ring the store and speak to the manager or like others take receipt and fruit and vegetables back to store ask to see the manager. As for proof of just how many you bought if your village coop is like mine they have cctv all over the shop.

Not sure on exact rules but trading standards might be helpful about how often a store has to check scales are accurate. I know when I helped out at a market stall selling fruit and veg we checked the scales several times thru out the day and customers didn't complain about the extra 30 seconds wait to pay.

I would go anyway - as mentioned, there would be CCTV, but also there will be an aspect of 'the customer is always right' and also the fact that it would be a pretty elaborate scam to get a few quid! I think if you go in and ask for the manager, and explain the issue, they're highly likely to just refund you on the spot.

I doubt they will bother to look at the footage unless you have committed a crime against apples ;)

Now that has GOT to be the understatement of the year!

Hand on heart, I have no idea how the Co-Op stays in business. Fools and there money?

Theyve just started selling 4 packs of white kinder buenos @ £1.50. You watch their confectionery sales go through the roof, already cleared out my local, im thinking sales to me alone will be enough to keep them in business.

Its convenience. Just before tea realising you need an onion (thats going to cost you a quid!). I could do without the onion, i could do without my tea, but then i can also do without the £1. Cant be doing getting in the car to drive 10-20 minutes to go to aldi.

Why not ask what they can do. They will realise if you take your custom elsewhere they will loose more than one refund for some loose fruit and veg. Especially if you are in there enough and it is a small enough store that your face is recognised as a regular.
