The virus is a memory resident program and loads into memory each time you switch you PC on, this is why XP is claiming it is in use and won't give you acess to delete it
You can delete the file if you follow these instructions.
Press CTRT +ALT +DELETE
Select Processes tab
Remeber the name of the file you couldn't delete and find it in the list
Right click on the file name
select end process.
You should now run anti virus so it can take care of the virus. you should do this before you reboot your pc or it will load back into memory again0 -
Its not listed on the processes tab. Although I have alot of square boxes and blanks on there where it says image name.
The name of the virus is TROJ WEBSEARCH.B based in the C\Windows\system 32\flsmngr.dll.
Any ideas why it brings it up on housecall but ot on my Norton. It shows the system is clear on Norton.:j BABY A :j0 -
TROJ WEBSEARCH.B is only a toolbar. Get rid of it though!!
PestPatrol will get rid of it.
Dunno why you dont have an automatic updates service, this is why you cant do automatic updates.
Goto add/remove progs and look for these;
Click Search Toolbar, TS Toolbar, and WebSearch Toolbar
If you have one (or more) uninstall them.0 -
I went on to the add/remove etc none of them listed.
I have tried all that you have advised me to do but no luck! I still have no access to my emails through MSN or the hotmail site. All the other websites work (including yahoo) dont understand why this would be affected.:j BABY A :j0 -
Does anyone know why I have square boxes as image name in he processes tab on Task manager? Is this normal?:j BABY A :j0

It doesnt look like this?0 -
Baby A,
May I suggest that you run an online anti virus scan with another company, I have visited many forums that deal with virus/trojan/malware problems and they always suggest running at least two test - this would allow for false positives and no one anti virus product is 100%.
I would suggest http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php and maybe http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
Further more try running an anti trojan 14 day trial http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ I use this and touch wood it seems to have saved my butt a couple of times.0 -
My page looks something similar to the one above but I have loads of squares etc. How do I take a scan of the screen? Then I can paste like you have and show you what I mean.
Ill give those websites a shot!:j BABY A :j0 -
Pasting a screeny isnt that easy...
You have to upload the picture to some webspace then create a link for it in here with [IMG][/IMG]0 -
Ok well all I can say is that I have just a square on most lines (only where it says image name)
Done a virus check using http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
and I have 4 viruses now, 3 cant be deleted or cured. Am totally confused how the one I paid for (Norton) shows none and all the freebies show viruses.
Viruses are 2 x win32.codalush (comrgini.dll and confcmd.exe) and the same as before (flsmngr.dll).
I am totally baffled how to cure all of this!:j BABY A :j0
