Bearing in mind the OP has not said what make / model the other car is it could well be worth £1500 even with gaffer tape and no mot it could well be worth £1500 even in that state.0

Even if your damage is only a matter of touching up, the cost to the insurance company will still likely see them write the car off if it's only worth a few hundred quid. Especially by the time he's asked for a courtesy car and the works.
Just send your insurer your pictures and statement, tell him your insurance will cover his losses and ignore him.0
