It seems like the registering of cars to a fleet trick, using a dodgy fleet number. Manufacturers don't like this and if they find out which dealers are involved, they'll take action.

I ordered a Superb Estate from NCD only last week so guess I can expect the email within a few days. Saddened and annoyed by this, must be even more frustrating for those that were so close to receiving their new car

There's going to be a few surplus Superbs in the showrooms and possibly some now pre registered.
  • Ncd have had problems with the new vw transporter van and doing this. Many disappointed people on vw forums
  • As expected my email has just arrived, differently worded from the previous.

    Good Afternoon

Unfortunatley we ve had some very bad news about our Skoda Superb car supply , with immediate effect any vehicles due for delivery or pipeline orders have been cancelled .

As a priority we have this morning sent you a £500 refund back which was your initial card deposit , this will appear back on the same debit or credit card we took it from originally .

We believe the issue to of caused by several reasons but over discounting a prime product and our Skoda dealer selling to various brokers to dramatically undercut other Skoda dealer prices are key factors .

We have asked if we can pay a higher price for the vehicles incase that was a possibility but in short Skoda want none of the Superbs ordered through this route to now gain a vehicle .

In their opinion anyone not buying direct from a Skoda dealer and paying the showroom price isn’t a customer .

The vehicles will now used as demo cars and then eventually be sold off at a later date , this keeps Skoda in control of each cars destiny rather than giving it the dealer to resell

We just wish we could change the situation but as you’ve gathered we have no control . We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused

There isn’t a good way of delivering irreversible bad news

    Regards
    Nick Ainley

Is this a variation on the "take lots of money from people, hold it for as long as possible to gain interest, then tell them there's been a problem and refund them" business model? (Others may call it a scam).

That would be a strange thing to do after building a good reputation for years. NCD aren't a new company who just popped up from nowhere.

Most car brokers work by channelling the orders to one or two dealers - so getting great prices in return for volume. BMW announced a while ago that any dealer who dealt with the brokers would be 'disciplined'. It sounds like Skoda are now doing the same.
