Yet Santander seems to rely on SMS heavily. I remember reading a post on here about a santander customer, who would start a transaction, then have to leave the house to get a signal so she could receive the OTP sms, but when she came back to the house, the transaction would have timed-out.

She will use/is using banking app?

Now does most of her banking via the banking app.

She's doing better than me and I'm half her age. Though I think that speaks more to the quality of some banks' apps than my savvyness as I'm happy doing almost anything else on my phone.

I assume this is her first smartphone?...Did you have to train her on how to use it?. e.g. how to use banking app or did she figure it out?
She's doing better than me and I'm half her age....
this is your mother-in-law we are talking about right?...it's just that I've never heard anyone speak so highly of their MOL.

Huh? I've never even met the woman.

No, it's MABLE's mother in law, not mine, and my comments are based on her appraisal of her MIL's abilities. Do try to keep up :p

    Don;t worry, I will :)

what appraisal? MABLE saying her MIL 'loves her smartphone' (received as a gift) and that she does 'most of her banking via the banking app' is an appraisal?

BTW: MABLE has said s(he) is over 60 in a previous post:
I do not think turning 60 can be the reason why your offers have dried up. I have also turned 60 and still get lots of offers.
Do you mind explaining how MABLE is over 60 and her/his MIL is 74? (since you already know MABLE's gender, perhaps this is not difficult)...If this can be explained, how many people out there share the same situation?
Couldn't it just be that MABLE's high proficiency in keeping-up with technology is rubbing off on her MIL. Both being over 60 must come in handy as well ...In terms of getting on like a house on fire. :p

Yes, exactly that. By falling in love with her banking app and using it for most of her banking, she's doing a lot better than me, and I'm half her age. What's difficult to understand about that?

You certainly seem to have done your research on MABLE. I've gender assumed because I hate using 'their' to describe individuals. Mable is traditionally a girl's name and it seems very unlikely a 60 year old man would use it as their forum username. I'm sure she will correct me if I'm wrong and I don't think it's the first time I've referred to her using feminine pronuouns.

Again, I have no idea why you are directing these questions at me and not MABLE. One possibility is her husband is younger than her.

She said her MIL 'loves her smartphone' not 'fell in love with her banking app'. You are clearly letting your biases interfere with your perception. I cannot comprehend how someone could allow this to happen.

Do you feel I hadn't figured this out already.(that's how come I offered the plausibility surrounding the likelihood of both being over 60)
unlikely a 60 year old man would use it as their forum username
yeah but, did you know she was over 60 when you made the assumption to use 'her' or did you just realize through my research?
I have no idea why you are directing these questions at me and not MABLE
Because you had no issues answering for MABLE (and her MIL) previously.

My biases are clearly laid out in the earlier post I made in this thread where I agreed with someone defending your point of view:

Agreed not at all nasty. My parents used to be ok using a smartphone, but recently they've had to go back to an old-school flip phone with a keypad because they were struggling to use an on-screen keyboard. There are even brands, for example "Denver GSP-110 Big Button Mobile Phone For Elderly" specifically marketed for this problem. I don't think it is offensive to point this out in response to the suggestion that people should get a smartphone if they want to check transactions.

In my book, the phrase "falling in love with her banking app and using it for most of her banking" is close enough to "Just got smart phone for mother in law and she loves it ... Now does most of her banking via the banking app", given that I don't share your obsessive tendencies and just have a passing interest in this thread.

It was through your research. Some people might think I like to labour a point, but going back nearly 6 months through someone's posting history to try to discredit them is a little too much even for me. ;)
Because you had no issues answered for MABLE (and her MIL) previously.
No I didn't, I replied to her post #24 (my reply was post #26).

You then butted in and started asking me questions about her. Presumably, you thought I was responding to your post #25. but I quite clearly quoted MABLE. Hence my comment to you to try to keep up.
