Yes I had a new assessment, first I went to cab who filled out my form then was called for assessment with capita? Think that's what they are called, took a long time, I wanted to get it right. The evidence was tbh old evidence only new stuff todo with a recent op partly to do with my pain, I don't really know what I'm doing that's the problem, I went to cab because I don't though X ty
Thinking about it, only new evidence was a referral letter for removal of a lump under my arm I had removed this Feb. I think they might have followed that up, it's the only new evidence! Rest 2 years old. If they did they won't give me pip on the strength of that. But the cab lady thought they would contact dr counsellor physio etc all the people who know about my disability issue0 -
Lady at cab said well we will send it and your dr and counsellor and physio and surgeon and it can't do any harm0

At the assessment and whenever filling in the form I always get upset at the food bit, I always loved cooking for my children, healthy organic etc. Cook books, etc. I got upset when I said I couldn't do this. Anymore. She asked me why I was upset? I said because I like cooking for my children, she came back with a harsh , they are old enough to do it for themselves (14)? Yes but then so am I. I didn't say that, wish I had, they haven't had a normal life they are having counselling and whose to say what age u can cook anyway? It worried me, her attitude.0

Brightlights- I know you are worried but please try to keep calm.
Have your local authority/council got a welfare rights dept? They can assist/advise with benefits, I refer to them (my local one) at least a couple times a week.
I think you also need to see if adult social services can offer any support, even do a carers assessment for your sons - there may be things they can Support with with. We managed to get a disabled facilities grant to convert bathroom so we could get my mum in the shower, we also got other equipment to help around the house.
In regards to your medication, most chemists offer the medipack service, that way your son won't have to sort your medication as it'll come already sorted in the pack.
((((((Hugs))))))Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Big big thanks to Niddy, sorely missed from these boards..best cybersupport ever!!0 -
I know it is difficult to not take it so personally but i'm afraid that what has happened to you has happened to many.
No one is out to 'get you' , you have asked for a reassessment due to worsening medical condition and the Decision maker at the DWP has decided that you do not qualify for it. You will find many many stories on these and other boards mirroring your current situation.
What you don't see often enough are the 'good stories' but then why should you? most people only write/say negative issues about decisions made regarding PIP or ESA claims.
I too asked for a reassessment in November lat year, my award was increased to enhanced for mobility but my daily living remained at standard, I asked for a MR (which is what you must do) it did not alter the decision so I appealed. The court then changed the DWP decision and awarded me enhanced for both components.
You have to realise that the assessor who carried out your assessment obviously did not put your case forward correctly, possibly due to the lack of evidence or maybe your assumption that you didn't have to 'prove' anything to them and then the decision maker at the DWP based their decision on the paperwork and evidence in front of them to come to their conclusion regarding your disability.
It is ONE person who made this decision, ONE employee at the DWP who made this decision. The DWP are not out to get you or the many others who post on here, yes there are horror stories but we only read one side.
So, you have to ask for a mandatory reconsideration, if this then leaves the decision the same you have the right to appeal, i'm sure CAB will help you with this.
Good luck0 -
I've just spent 12 weeks on women's AIDS freedom programme learning why abusers abuse and learning to spot these people so I don't make the same mistake again, I can tell you that the assessor I saw was EXACTLY like my ex in terms of personality, showed all the signs of being totally aware of the show she was putting on for me. And once or twice showed her true colours, I think I am probably in a really good position to spot this right now tbh and I can tell you she was not a nice person. Not really and this isn't because I've been treated badly by my ex.Bananas123 wrote: »hello,
reading the bad stories is going to impact you very negatively, especially as you say about waiting times, tooo much time to stress, you know when you read something bad, and then dwell upon it until the event happens,
this is not good for ones mental state / waste of time that could be spent doing better things (i know, because i do it all the time...)
i claim ESA and they gave me 0 points on 2 occasions and then i got put into WRAG group at tribunal.
they definately were not out to get me, but just ruled one way, sometimes, it takes the tribunal to be listened to.
if you take it personally, it just causes soooo much stress,
ALSO, alot of the time, the "stories" do not come from reliable sources, because when you get put in the group / recieve the benefit you are eligable for, there is no "story" (as one is happy > don't hear about it).
conversely, if you are angry at a desicion, you are going to want to write a immensely negative story,
it's like reading courier (parcel) review sites, you get post all the time, but "the internet" tells you that you don't recieve them / they get thrown over walls etc... (if that makes sense > you only get presented with negative things some of the time)
also, bare in mind, you were in reciept of PIP previously and PIP hasn't changed (it's the same as it was before, just this time they made the WRONG desicion) (human error).
> also, on "human error"; we all make mistakes, they are humans also, have families etc > don't think of them as any different then you are, you are NOT any less then a person with a degree in such and such etc, remember to retain some power for yourself, if you feel belittled by a councellor etc, it is a good idea to request to see a different person, some people do not have concepts of things.
please try don't fall into the trap of thinking that everyone is like your abusive ex, there are bad people out there, obviously, but abusers do not account for a mass of the population, please you have to believe me.
many people are just naieve about illness; like children, they do not have a concept of chronic illness, only "getting better", it doesn't neccesarily mean they are trying to patronise/belittle you etc, just they do not understand.
need to try and instill positivity, try and get alot of rest, fresh air and exercise if you are capable, eat well.0 -
Did you resend the old evidence with your new PIP claim or just the new evidence?
Just trying to work out whether they had the old evidence with the form when they did your new assessment.0 -
Hi Brightlight . Like Pmlindy I am wondering if all relevent evidence was sent . Your doctor needs to write all the medical information that shows your conditions and how they impact on your daily life .
As I said last night it is important to find an experienced benefits advisor asap .
The priority is to deal with the situation now . I understand you are anxious and afraid but the help is out there . It may be an idea to contact womens aid today as they are used to helping with benefits . If they cannot help they will advise you who can .
You cannot change what has happened but you can minimise the impact on yourself and your sons by taking charge and finding the support to help you with your claim .
I'm off out now but will check back later .

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
I see you are still online so will try and explain why I keep asking these questions.
Many people do not realise when they have another assessment the person doing the assessment will not know about the previous PIP claim.
They will have your PIP form and any evidence that you have sent it with the new form. They will not look at your previous PIP application and the evidence you used for that.
So it is extremely important that a new claim has all the medical evidence sent again.
Despite their saying so they do not always get in contact with anyone so it is up to you to send all the evidence your self.
So please tell us whether you did send all the evidence (old and new)
I am trying to find a way that they might reconsider the decision without going to appeal.0 -
also you keep mentioning your children.
for the purpose of your PIP claim, what your children do or don't do is irrelevant.
what you do or don't do for your children is irrelevant too.
the PIP claim is solely about YOUR needs as an individual rather than as part of your family.
to get upset about the attitude shown towards you not being able to cook for them ( they are old enough to feed themselves btw
is pointless as it adds nothing to your claim) 0
