Thanks a lot for the suggestions, plenty of food for thought there. Lighthouse Keeper – now that would have suited me down to the ground :) The night jobs appeal, not having to deal with the usual daytime crowds and traffic and working in quiet surroundings. Also working from home sounds good in many ways – no travel woes, no expensive sandwiches for lunch, have your workroom conditions exactly as you want, and no bizarrely difficult colleagues to have to put up with :) But as mentioned, downsides to factor-in too.

Locomotive driver for freight trains? That's the job I dream of when I get really sick of the noisy people in my open-plan office. The idea of thundering through the night with a couple of thousand tonnes of coal behind me appeals. I suspect it would involve a fair amount of sitting around in crowded crew-rooms between the train-driving bits though.

Long-distance lorry driver is another option, although it probably pays much less than train driving.

Night freight train driver sounds great, WD  Truck driver appeals less; as well as the money, the reversing looks stressy :)
