old classic trials bike , imported from Germany , many yrs ago never registered in the Uk , I tried to get it registered with a proper age dating letter from the vintage jap cycle club , the correct v55/5 , photos , mot , insurance and ID , it was kicked out due to no NOVA paperwork ,
£69,405,00 fine in fines , £5 per day for not informing HMRC of import of motor vehicle within 14 days of it being imported
yup that's the figure as no proof of import can be found and the bike was registered/built in 1978
there is another £100 vat to be paid (20% of £500)
and a HMRC bacs number to pay to
fortunately after "talking" to them , they agree that there is a fault with the online nova application , and a lot of relevant questions are omitted .
vat due now = zero
fine due now = zero
nova number now issued
round two with DVLA will commence after bank holidays

Who issued the fine? If it's the DVLA then you'll have to go to court, because they don't give up until a court throws out their case.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

admitted they were totally wrong , lots of relevant questions are missing on the online form
older cars/bikes do not have vin numbers , they have chassis numbers ie : k1-12345
- is not an accepted digit , please enter full vin , this is "x" numbers long!

the engine was never removed
tracing back thru owners of the bike , it could have been chucked into a van by a army person returning to the UK , I do know that it has been in restoration for over 15 yrs and not made it to the road ,
