Lowcostholiday nightmare

Hi everyone
I don't often post but today I am at the end of my tether and want to find out if anyone is also experiencing big problems with Low-cost holidays. Booked last friday for a weeks holiday in Corfu, money was taken for payment. I did not receive any email confirmation and when I rang them on sunday, they said I would hear within 72 hours of booking. Still nothing and have spent over 5 hours on hold to their aviation department in the last 24 hours with no answer. I spoke to their customer services lady using their emergency number, last night, and was told all would be sorted by today. Now I have had email to say that the flight booking has failed and to ring them to rearrange. Having been waiting for an hour and 40mins for them to answer, I am at a loss as what to do. My holiday, with a friend, is supposed to be Fri 3rd June, they have taken my money and are not answering. In order to book and alternative, I need my money refunded asap and don't know what to do (I'm on a budget and don't have another £800 knocking about!) Any useful advice gratefully received!! There is no way to get through to them. HELP thanks

Oh I AM sorry Pogofish. Yes, if you'd like a bargain why don't you book a holiday with them? Best of luck and sorry I couldn't find a more convenient (for you) place to post my problem.

It has nothing to do with being unsympathetic to her problem.

However this was originally posted in the forum that is solely and clearly only for reporting bargains!

At least it has been moved to an appropriate place now.

This board is literally just for reporting (as the title says) Holiday Deals, Holiday Bargains and any Special Offers on holidays, only!

    Is that not clear enough?

And what about this very forum where the thread sits now, or even the Praise Vent and Warnings forum - or Consumer Rights. Are any of those not far more suitable?

Who would have thought a company called Lowcost Holidays could be dodgy.

Some online travel agents don't show live prices for flights. When you "book" you are actually submitting a request, and they will then go and book the elements of the holiday you requested (flights, hotels etc)

It can happen that between you doing this and them going to book with the airline, the prices have increased. Probably what was happened here.

Have you spoken to your card provider? Tell them you are disputing the transaction.

Have you tried calling their sales line and asking to be put through instead? They usually answer sales calls a lot quicker, or call the emergency number again if you must.

You will be given two choices. Pay the increased air fare, which is likely to be the correct price now or cancel and get a refund. Unfortunately though the refund could take around 5 days to come back to you so it's unlikely that you'll be able to rebook anything now before 3Rd June.

If the price isn't much of an increase in all honesty I would pay it. Most of the online travel agents have the same problem. They. Don't have a direct link to the airlines so instead they check prices every few hours or even every few days and then package based on that price. If the price has changed when you go to book, it's the airline who has changed it and the travel agent just hasn't updated their system. It's not fair but it's quite common I'm afraid.
