Sixt car hire in Italy - calculating security deposit?

Hi MSE folks - I have booked a hire car in Tuscany through Sixt Italy for one week in July. I have taken out excess insurance with a separate provider. I asked Sixt to estimate what the security deposit would be (ie the amount they ringfence on your credit card) and they said they couldn't confirm this other to say the maximum is 1000 Euros, but it depends on the vehicle etc. I have booked a Fiat 500/Group B car.
has anyone had a similar experience in last year or so and can suggest a realistic amount that will be ringfenced?
Many thanks in advance
