Switching Dates

I decided to switch away from PlusNet for a better deal. My contract ends with PlusNet on 4th June but my switch date is 9th June. Does anyone know how this works with the billing from PlusNet - will I have to pay them for a whole month or just the few days before the switch is activated?

Have you already informed PlusNet that you want to leave? Some have a 30 day leaving wait. If you have already agreed to terminate your contract when the minimum contract time ends, and your new contract elsewhere wont start for a further 5 days I'd imagine you wont have any broadband (assuming this is the service PlusNet provides for you) between the 4th and the 9th. However, if you speak to PlusNet they may be able to agree to provide a prorata fee for the 5 days but act quickly as some wont allow this if they have already set things up to end on the 4th if this is what you have spoken or written to them to request.0

I did contact PlusNet and they said my package will continue but without any discounts - they were very vague as to how much they were going to charge me and said I needed to wait till I get a final bill from them.0

Make sure you give them as much notice as you can as they are likely to add a further 30 days which they will charge you from the first date they are made aware of, by you in very direct wording, of your request to leave. And then keep copies of any correspondence to make sure they don't say they didn't get anything from you to say you wanted to leave.0

This is what it says on their website:
If you are moving the service to another provider you don’t need to contact us and MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) keys are no longer required to move between providers. Please note that upon receipt of notification from a new provider that you wish to transfer your service, we will contact you to let them know the consequences of moving their service, including any applicable early termination charges or broadband cessation charges.0 -

When I moved from Plusnet they billed me a month, as is usual as it's a month in advance. When the move went through I had a refund.
My billing date was the 17th. I moved on or around the 21st. I had a refund for the "unused" month with them on the 31st.0 -
Thanks for clarifying this.Neil_Jones wrote: »When I moved from Plusnet they billed me a month, as is usual as it's a month in advance. When the move went through I had a refund.
