Thomson have put 4 and 7 year old alone on plane

Options
We are due to go on holidays at the end of the week and I went to do the online check in tonight but one big problem.

Thomson have put our 4 year old alone in row 15 , our 7 year old alone in row 16 , one adult a few rows back and then the other adult in row 27 on the plane. Phone lines are shut now so I can't speak to anyone.

Surely this isn't allowed or is it?

It's a night flight as well.

I've the same issue but not involving children. I'm a very nervous flier and tried to check in tonight for our flight next Monday and there are no seats left together, I would have paid for seats together but there were none together showing after I booked the holiday and could add extras to it, so I assumed they would show up once online check in was open today- nope.

I sent a message to Thomson on Facebook and got a reply in 3-4 hours saying tough luck basically as the flight is full, I'm finding it really hard to believe everyone but me paid extra to sit together. I will now lose all the money I paid if I cancel as its too late. I know I won't be able to sit on my own on the flight so I don't know what to do.

Get to the airport early as early as possible and ask them to reassign you seats that are together.

Surely this shouldn't have happened in the first place though, you can't expect a 4 year old to sit on a flight with strangers for 4 hours.

Search this site, there has been quite a bit of heated debate about sitting children with parents. There is one side that if you want to sit together then you should have paid,

Then there is the other side that say they should be following the CAA guidelines, you should not split up families for safety reasons.
Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA :D

Of course, what you see online now is an effort to extract cash.

Check your luggage in early and I'm sure they'll seat you together.

If you don't get moved at checking, chances are that whoever is sitting next to either of your kids may well be happy to swap - but probably won't be very happy if they paid to select their seats.

Usually you ought to be able to find seats together without paying but there are certain dates, the start of Half Term, summer school holidays and Easter/Christmas when this just doesn't work because so many people have the same fear that you do. This gets the airline additional income and those that pay no longer worry about being split up. The flights will of course be full of children with parents who I regret are unlikely to move, the situation will be completely different in 2 weeks time when the planes will be much emptier but next weekend will be a big problem on sun routes if you haven't prepaid

and in particular the note about Thomson:
(ii) It told us: "If, in very rare circumstances, a child is initially allocated a seat away from the parent, it will be reassigned (usually at check-in)."
