Payday 31/05 (bank holiday)

Options
Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked already.

My work pays me by BACS on the last working day of the month, this month is the 31/05 which is the day after a bank holiday.

Previously my bank (barclays) has paid me on the saturday before the monday my payday falls on.

By this logic, as monday is a non banking day, my salary may go in on this saturday? I thought this might help as there must be other people wondering the same thing?

fingers crossed! I'd rather not have to go broke for a bank holiday weekend

If you get paid on the last working day then you will be paid on Tuesday 31st and not Monday, so you will only get paid on a Saturday in October.

I know any payments that are due in on Monday (Tax credits) are being paid this Friday.

When my payday falls on a weekend I get paid on the Friday, but this isn't the case for this month.

I get what you guys are saying, but what i mean is my last working day has been a monday before and the pay has gone in on the saturday before, despite monday being a working day.

So i was wondering if the same would happen on this bank holiday weekend as both sunday and the monday aren't banking days so it might go on on saturday?

Anyway i guess i'll keep you all posted!

But the last working day is Tuesday the 31st, which isn't a Bank Holiday.

There are some very dense people in this thread who seem incapable of grasping what the OP is saying but deciding to post anyway!

OP, I think that the payment will go in on Saturday - it sounds like it is processed overnight on the working day before your payment due date, and is posted with the next calendar date, so in this case the working day before Tuesday is Friday.

I think the weekend thing relates to the specific bank.

    Nat West, RBS or Ulster?

Natest pays early if you are paid on a Monday, but that is the only bank that does, all my other accounts pay at midnight on the day its due.

I understand what the OP is saying, that when the payday falls on a Monday they get paid on the Saturday, as its processed the previous bank working day, but as they get paid on Tuesday this month, my understanding is the processing will not be affected as Tuesday is a bank working day.

Of course no one will know, just a waiting game to find out...

Credits will appear in your account on Saturday with a Tuesday date and debits will leave on Tuesday if you bank with Barclays (like I do)

I don't agree, I think in this case Tuesday is effectively the same as Monday would be in a different month, so the same posting on Friday/Saturday should apply, but as you say, wait and see will give us the answer (if the OP comes back of course).

    A lot of mixed opinion.

Worth mentioning as well that I asked Barclays myself yesterday evening about the pay date.

The response was "no comment" so I think they know that weekend payments are a bit broken so can't give any advice.
