Love this joke thank you

To be honest its not the worst the agents have had recently - one person moving from oil central to gas (mains) central drained the take of all the oil as it was half full and buyer refused to pay £200 for it!

At least we prepare for the worst (him taking it all) and bonus if he leaves some stuff.

Agents have also warned him that if he takes things he said he was leaving on the fixtures and fittings form that he could be in big trouble. Now in reality we aren't that bothered about those things either (old curtains and fridge/freezer) but hopefully will make him think twice!

Understand he isn't happy about paying £50 but surely that is nothing when making £110,000 on a house in 11 years! (yes he has done lots of work on it but still)...

He would be looking at a much higher bill if we had chosen to pull out at this stage.

Tell me about it!! Although I am sure he is just unhappy about spending £50 on something that he doesn't feel is necessary. I get that honestly I do, but its a requirement really now if you don't have the certificates.

I hope that he sees sense and plays ball from now onwards.

I am about to exchange and i think my sellers may have breached permitted development on something , i am paying £120 for an indemnity as i dont want to hold the sale up and i have a sense that the vendors will be very unreceptive to paying for it, for an easy life i just feel its money well spent

    stressful time though isnt it

I know! But we were not happy to pay £50 for his left over wood (he gathered for free) and gas bottles (which is how it is heated but mean you have to take over his contract)! But yes if we were worried about delaying the exchange we would have paid!

(its really not - he gathered the wood for free and gas is c£60 a bottle).

He said if he pays for this policy he will sell the wood and gas rather than give it too us.

I want to tell him where to stick it and pay the policy himself but what are your thoughts?!

Two sides to every story...have to say, you sound as bad as him, just because he gathered it, doesn't make it worthless, if it's worth nothing to you, tell him to keep it and you go gathering your own wood.

Just because he got it for "free" doesn't mean it's worthless.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I think it's quite likely he won't bother to take the wood in the end (despite what he is saying now).

Unlikely he'd be bothered to take it.

He might have one big bonfire in the middle of the garden though.

We do not have a FENSA certificate for our windows because the installer used a different scheme. He did register the installation with the local authority building control though & it was quite easy to check with them. I agree that these insurance policies are a ridiculous thing, I'd love to know what the payout rate is
