CPS Ltd -

Hi,

I didn't really want to create a new post as I've been through this before and know what I'm meant to do. However, there are a couple of specific scenarios that apply that I wanted a bit of advice over.

I parked on Saturday in an area that I have since discovered is patrolled by a company called CPS ltd.

I've not been back to the location to check signage as yet so can't comment on that.

There are a couple of questions I have though specific to my situation.

Firstly I only noticed the note because when I activated the wipers it flung it off into the road. It had been raining that day and it was sodden and the information on it is no longer really legible at all. Does this affect anything?

Secondly the car is not owned by me and the friend that does own it is moving house this week so I think there is a good possibility that any letters sent will get lost in the transfer.

Has anyone any thoughts on the above?

Edit: Also - as a matter of interest what would be the case if I had not have noticed the notice falling off the car?

CPS can't apply for your friend's details until 28 days after the parking event. When they move house they will need to inform DVLA about the change in address so hopefully DVLA will have the correct address by day 28.

CPS Ltd don't exist; what is their full name?

    Hi,

I believe it is Combined Parking Solutions Ltd but I do not have the note to hand at the moment. I will check this when I get home and confirm.

Like any sensible person your friend should arrange a mail re-direct with the Royal Mail for a few months.

    Hi

I agree, I did the same but I think he gets very little physical mail, just junk mail, so is not bothering with it unfortunately.

He's very 'on it' with updating etc so I don't think it will end up being a problem...*fingers crossed*

You got YOUR letter through? I thought you borrowed a friend's car?

This company appears to have a problem with v.a.t.
If, as they claim, this is contractual charge, it is a fee for parking, and thus vatable. Have they accounted for vat on their paper work?
Ask them for a vat invoice. If they ignore your request, (which they probably will), it is a useful stick with which to beat them if it ever gets to court.

The car is his, the letter is technically mine. (as it goes the car is jointly owned by me and him but it is in his name)

Thanks for this. They have not accounted for VAT on their paperwork but I will write to them asking for that.

So it seems that in terms of a case it is not remarkable so I am following the newbies thread and have sent my letter which includes a request for a VAT invoice.

Does anyone have any comment, however, on the points in the original post about the original notice being sodden and what would have happened had I not noticed it? Essentially just proceed as I currently am? Is there an argument that it wasn't left 'securely' enough to make it clear to the driver? It was definitely put out of the way right down in the bottom corner passenger side of the windscreen.
