My mistake but it should have been Section 42 Road Traffic Act 1988
http://www.cabinet.leicester.gov.uk/documents/s63157/Evidence%20-%20Police.pdf
It is a very real and unnecessary obstruction to another road user AND somebody will have made a formal complaint so it is prosecutable
I am sorry but I do not have an encyclopedic knowledge of the S42 offences dealt with by the courts in the last 10 years so am unable to give specific instances.
The example you quote cites obstruction of the highway/pavement, but that is not what I stated, so we beg to differ.ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -
5 cars is a lot to keep insured, MOTd, taxed - so if he does annoy you and your fellow neighbours, you could do yourselves a favour and keep a close eye on any of the above expiring...0

Have you tried talking to him?
I understand you're frustration, it may not be illegal what he is doing, but it is deeply anti-social. However as others have said, not much you can do about it.0 -
He sounds awful. And five cars???!!!
You'll just have to try a polite word with him. Explain the problems it causes for the rest of the neighbours.0 -

5 cars in a family is not at all unusual though is it ? My husband and I have three between us and each of my 3 sons (who did all live at home with us once) have a car plus my DIL has a car. When we all get together for family events it can be rather crowded.
We actually moved away from a property many years ago on a modern estate where the parking was a free for all. Pop out to the shops or for a takeaway and come back to find no parking spaces and a 10 minute walk home again from the closest space.
It's just modern living, the person who can move their car fastest gets the space.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. its bloody frustrating though and no they dont have a second carWhat goes around-comes around0 -
..Or, they could get on with their own life rather than trying to police others.
They can't get own with their own life, because of problems like, you know, not being able to park outside their own house, because someone is parking 5!It's just modern living, the person who can move their car fastest gets the space.
Maybe, but this guy is actively using the street, instead of his own driveway.0
