Folks standing in your street, frequently

If there's nothing bad being done, then why worry! Don't meet misery half way.0

how do you manage to order a beer across the channel?
Across the channel?
Une bière fraîche s'il vous plaît.:hello:0 -

We must be nosey up here in the North - you can guarantee if this was a regular occurrence then at least half the street (myself included) would have been out at some point, offering them a brew, possibly some cake and then asking them who they were, what they were doing etc.0 -

So here we have people coming over here, 'slumming it' for a couple of years while they work hard and take their cash back home with them where it's worth a lot more. I really don't blame them!
Do you really think if we leave the EU we'll kick out every single migrant worker. If you think the NHS is screwed now, just you wait.
If it was a bunch of English lads it would be odd! The fact that they're Eastern European is not the relevant bit IMHO. I'd be able to understand what they talk about perhaps... but that's about it.EU expat working in London0 -

Actually that's a feeble excuse. Just ask anyone who works/has tried to get work in the building trade or shops/bars/hotels/restaurants, there are no jobs in these areas now thanks to EU immigrants living cheaply in HMOs meaning they can accept slave wages.
Of course the tories/business leaders love this pool of cheap labour, it drives down salaries and keeps the threat of someone to replace you if you object.
I accept it will get worse and doubt those already here would be kicked out but at least we could (theoretically if this government had a spine) reduce the influx.0 -
what IS peoples problem
The OP came looking for advise, not to get attacked.
OP I would hate it. Yes they are doing nothing wrong, but a group of men being constantly outside your house for ten hours a day being able to view when you come and go? It would make me nervousWith love, POSR

Who attacked the OP? I haven't seen any evidence of that at all in this topic.0 -
I wouldn't be happy about this either and people shouldn't accuse the OP of being hysterical. When at home I want to feel safe & secure. Having people constantly hanging around outside would make me feel uncomfortable. Why would anyone want to live like that? Some of the situations people are describing would make me move house I'm afraid!0

OP - if the situation worries you so much, why have you not talked to your local neighbouring police officer?0

The people loitering round my street recently turned out to be drug dealers. Never directly caused me an issue or caused me to feel threatened, but if in doubt mention it to the local PCSO.
I do find in my area the Eastern Europeans seem to live a bit more of an external lifestyle. Just hanging around chatting, but more likely to happen outdoors than in. Maybe it's just something like that that we notice just because it's different? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
