O2 refresh
Options
Looking at maybe buying a refurbished iPhone 5s from O2 on there refresh scheme, I believe it's OK to cancel the airtime part of the deal within 14 days but keep the phone by paying approx £150, this sounds a reasonable deal to me if it's that easy to do ??. I have asked 02 if this phone is unlocked, they were a bit vauge, but say all these are locked and I would have to pay £ 16 to get one unlocked, taking about 10 days ?. This sort of puts a bit of a damper on it, making me think it's better I buy a new sim free one,. Has anyone bought one via O2 refresh, is it locked, and what sort of condition is the phone in. Any advise / help appreciated. Thanks

I would recommend avoiding getting involved with a finance deal to purchase a phone as part of a contract, the networks love it as you are then stuck with them for up to 2 years...
At my last work place they renewed contracts in order to get new phones, even when the users' phone just needed a £9 battery, extremely short sighted.
An iPhone 5s is an obsolete model and might not come with a new battery or any meaningful warranty. The replacement SE is £439 (64 GB), or £359 for the 16 GB model, and is quite an improvement over a 5S. Could you get one from Apple in SIM free and avoid any tie to O2, just going SIM only? Apple offer finance, although it's a poor interest rate of around 14%.
Dealing directly with Apple is a delight compared to networks and their high street shops.0 -
Sorry but there is no way I would ever pay that sort of money for any phone, the IPhone 5s would do everything she would ever need, most I have ever paid was £100 a year ago for my Nexus 5, I'll prob kep it another year, it's been a brilliant phone. Main reason I want to buy her the IPhone 5s is because it would be her first smart phone, she's so used to her ipad, and getting used to iPhone would be easy for her. I definitely do not want to be tied into any contract, but with this refresh deal I'm led to believe you can cancel it, pay the £150 and keep the phone if you do it within 14 days. Just wondering if anyone on here has tried this.0
