One year of comping-was it worth it?

So today I celebrate one full year of serious comping and this is what I have learnt:
I entered 16,700 competitions
I won 39 prizes---- that's 1 in 428 comps entered
Out of the 39 prizes only 5 retailed at more than £20 so in opinion that's 1 decent prize per 3340 entries.
I enjoy comping but the best advice I have received is Enter and Forget-at the start I couldn't sleep for thinking about all the prizes-I am much more relaxed now and if I miss entering so what!
I don't do Facebook or Twitter and have no desire to change that.
I tend to only do comps for prizes that I really want now as oppose to entering everything.
I don't do Click to win as it's boring.
I have received loads of help from you guys for which I am really grateful and I sometimes find it hard to believe the kindness from people doing the posting.
So thanks to you all.
Will I continue comping? Of course I will!!:j:j:j

One year of comping-was it worth it?
16,700 competitions, allowing an average one minute to find enter and move on to the next competition is close to 280 hours for the year (45 mins a day), dividing the value of prizes say £2,000 by 280 works out to around £7.15 an hour and with no tax to pay probably worth it.0 -
I think Purple4mum is luckier than average or else I'm unluckier than average I spend a lot longer than 45 a minutes a day entering and won 29 prizes last year - 14 so far this year. I think I'm getting fussier on which comps to enter now too. Best of luck for the rest of the year!2019: Footcream, tickets to homebuilding show,
£100 leisure vouchers, funky iron0 -
I've been doing this for 10 months now and had 27 wins in total (including Click2Wins which I stopped in February because they were taking over my life ha ha)! I have easily spent an average of about 3 hours a day on comps over that time. Of the 27 wins, I've had a handful of high value wins (anything over a £100) which alone would be upwards of about £2,500 worth. Dread to think how many comps I've entered over that time though, I never keep track!:easter:0

Thanks for the stats!! mjm3346
I think my prizes for the year totalled about £600 and I probably .spend about 2hours a day comping,so.........may be I would be better off getting a part time job! Not as much fun as comping though.:rotfl:0 -

A hobby which is for fun doesn't have to be "worth it" in financial terms although compared to many hobbies there is the bonus of a financial return instead of an outlay.0 -
I think comping is worth it because you can learn how to use new apps, how to take and make better videos. Improve typing skills, make friends, make a wishlist and see what you have achieved.
I have won some lovely prizes so hard work pays off

Couldn't agree more Captain! My social media skills would never have been so good without comping. I blog and am a whole lot more tech savvy too. In RL I would have little contact with the online world so comping really does keep me up to date.total wins 2013 £5500 2014 £7500 2015 £23,900 2016 £10,650 2017 £13,040 2018 £10,620 2019 £10,115 2020 £3970.00

I must be the unluckiest person ever - have been filling out competitions for approx. 1-2 hours a day since 1st January and still have not won anything0
