Powerline internet adapter - TV

Every now and then my HH5 will update it self via a firmware update pushed down from BT. I need to power down the HH5 for a few minutes and then power it back up other wise it can cause a really slow link speed on my wired devices.
In other words, have you tried turning it off and back on again?

So what are you saying is irrelevant? The operating system your laptop/pc/tablet/smart phone, should have no bearing on how other smart devices connect to your home network
In other words ... it is probably coincidence that the TV issue has happened at the same time as Windows 10. The operating system on your PC/whatever cannot in any way affect the TV's network connection (unless the TV is getting the connection via the PC/whatever, but that's not the case here).
Turn off the HH5 - leave for a few minutes - turn it back on - let it settle itself.
Then go back into the HH5 and turn off Smart Manager (if it is on), or turn it on then turn it off again.0 -
I moved the subject TV next to the router(BT Hub5) and connected it to the router using the same Ethernet cable that was used to connect to the powerline adapter(broadband extender 600) and it worked correctly - i.e. the TV connected to the internet using an Ethernet cable.
Obviously this pointed to a problem with the Mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 600. For the second time I carried out a full factory reset on both elements of the kit(Broadband Extender 600 and mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 600), moved the TV back to the bedroom and connected it with the Ethernet cable and Bingo! It all worked.
I will monitor it over the next few weeks and if it keeps dropping out, I will exchange the kit. It is pertinent to mention that, even when the TV would not connect to the internet with an Ethernet cable, all three lights on both elements of the 600 kit remained green. This according to the instructions indicates that both wireless and Ethernet were exchanging high speed data.
Thanks for the assistance of all on this thread.0 -
Glad you got it sorted.
As I suspected, Windows 10 was a red herring and entirely coincidental ... that's not to blame you in any way; for the uninitiated it would be a logical conclusion to draw (cause / effect), albeit an incorrect conclusion.
I sometimes lose the Ethernet connection at my home-plug ... I find that disconnecting the Ethernet cable from my PC, waiting a few seconds then reconnecting it brings the connection back alive. Maybe try that if/next time the TV loses connection?
(It does seem odd though that it only seems to be BBC Iplayer that's affected though).0
