Urgh I'm going away for a long weekend at the beginning of June and need my passport. I sent my driving license off which has verified my proof of ID.

Is it likely that they can use it for both?
No, they won't. Because that would just be one form of ID - they want two.

I just downloaded my online statements (save as pdf). Why isn't this an option?

Presumably because they want you to produce something which has actually been shoved through your door recently, to prove you live there - your online accounts may have a long out of date address (as might your driving licence, given the number of people who post here proud of the fact they've never updated their address).

Agree with ReadingTim - driving licence which has your address on it, and your passport.

As you are going off start of June, talk to your broker and ask if a photocopy of both documents would be acceptable.

Since your mortgage is coming from HSBC you could try talking to them direct and explain about your statements and also ask them about photocopies of necessary documents, but your broker probably would not like this approach.

Would a local branch of HSBC take a copy of your passport and certify that they have seen it?

When I was seeking probate for a relative I took his will and and death certificate into an HSBC branch along with my ID. A clerk photocopied the items and signed and dated them to say they had seen the originals.

Do you have a credit card? A credit card statement issued by a bank (i.e. NOT a store card) is accepted by HSBC as proof of address, that is what I used.

I had the same 'complication'. My rental is all inclusive, so no bills in my name.

Failing that, go into a branch of one of your banks and ask them to issue you with a statement, it will mention it was printed in branch, rather than online and should be accepted, but just to be sure, order a paper statement via the post while you are there, should only take 3-5 days to arrive.

I had to go into a HSBC branch with original passport and drivers licence. Their staff then photocopied the documents and acknowledged they were real there and then.

Also a PAYE coding notice or HMRC tax calculation from the tax office should be acceptable.

Why does HSBC need ID for one of it's own customers?!

Because they are a bunch of criminal scammers - HSBC, not the customers. They are proven criminals in the USA, and now they treat all their customers as if they are criminals. They are also infected with a severe case of MLP.

I would double check the council tax bill, they often have all residents on the bill.

assuming that you are employed, if you are happy to spend twenty minutes or so on hold, you could ring up HMRC and ask them to send you a tax coding notice - as someone without a driving licence or passport and not on benefits, I've found this to be an acceptable proof when opening bank accoutns in the past.

Some utiliies will allow you to put your name on the bill as well as the main householder - when I lived at my previous address myself, husband and son were all the water bill (for example) and have all used it as proof of address.
