We have a 12 month old Panasonic and I use the little coloured leads on the Wii, without the scart adaptor. There are coloured sockets (AV2) on the back of the tv, but the yellow lead has to go into a green socket, whereas white and red have matching slots.

Your Wii likely came with a cable that goes to red, white and yellow - red and white for stereo sound, and yellow for the picture. This is called composite. If the Samsung has that connection, you're set. It would also have come with a little connector block, that those plugs go into - to turn them into SCART. If your TV has ONE SCART socket, use that, and buy a Blu Ray player. Or if it has 2 (less likely these days) you can still use both Wii and DVD player.
Alternatively, you can buy a component cable for the Wii. This goes to red and white as above, but also a red, blue and green for the picture. If your new TV has a component connection, this is about the best the Wii can manage.

It is worth investing £1 on the comprehensive WHICH report on TV's or go to a library and read.

    Or go to AV forums.

You can pick up a blu ray player cheap as chips these days - it plays dvd's and blu rays, and will come with HDMI connection. I was 50/50 on an LG or Samsung, but we went with LG as we got one with 3D (LG 3D is passive, Samsung 3D is active). Otherwise, nowt between them, but you need ot research the model numbers. If you have a smart TV you can watch Now TV through it - lots cheaper than Sky but you can't record programmes - any you miss have to be watched on catchup.
