Did I do something wrong?

No.
That is stupid. Why should you block half the road just because you are impatient?
The Audi guy was like 90% of Audi drivers, impatient and stupid.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Without seeing the flow of traffic personally, from your description, it sounds like you were completely not at fault.
How is that stupid? You may live in the country or something but some busy roads you have no choice, you have to edge out. This also allows you to get into the other lane quicker.
The Audi drive was stupid as it was a dangerous maneuver.
OP, don't be thrown off other drivers or forced into doing something you are not comfortable with. People will, probably rightfully, toot their horn and flash their lights but it's your life and safety in the end. With that said, within reason try to be a bit more ballsy in such situations. There is a roundabout near where I used to live and it's always a difficult one. Taking my lessons I would be there for 5 minutes sometimes to annoyance of the drivers behind me.
I just learned that sometimes you have to put your foot down and be able to asses when a car can reasonably slow down for you.0 -

Roundabouts were initially the biggest thing I was afraid of when I learned to drive over here, I'm quite comfortable on them now though...can't remember why I was afraid.
Outside of Birmingham, I've never had any issues. I'm comfortable on motorways from driving in America for so many years because I basically ALWAYS took the "motorway" there.Andrew_Ryan_89 wrote: »There was an old guy local to me who got caught several times going the wrong way down a dual carriageway, he hadn't had an accident in over 40 years. He continued to drive the wrong way down this road out of shear bloody mindedness, because at the minor road where he pulls out from the central reservation had been blocked off to prevent accidents.
When someone says they gone xyz years without an accident, the first thing into my head is "yeah, but how many have you left in your wake".
Haha fair enough. None that I know of, anyway. I have seen other people do it though. I tend to be a bit careful over here with the no entries and one way roads though, didn't see that much back in my part of the States, but it's common enough in Brum.0
