First property (2005): 5% of £102,500. Yes, I was happy, I got on the housing ladder.
Second property (2007): 10% of £280,000. Yes, I was happy - scraping together 10% wasn't easy, but got us an affordable rate, important as our mortgage was obviously much bigger.
Third property (2016): 40% of £440,000. I would have liked to put down a smaller deposit as I'm below my lender's max LTV for their best product, but I was limited this time by affordability.0 -
Ten years ago 70k deposit on a house purchase of 210K. Be mortgage free at end of this year, great.0

I purchased my first property in 2010 for £156,500. I put £47,000 down as a deposit
Sold it in February this year and bought a house for £400,000, we put £170,000 as a deposit0 -
Purchased our house in January as a first time buyer, with a deposit of £76,250 for £275K for a 25% LTV.
All seems to be going well so far. I inherited a Koi pond with some Koi inside which has been fun learning to look after. We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.0 -

Sounds good! All I inherited is a chimney that needs repointing :rotfl:0 -
In terms of securing the best mortgage deal available to you at the time, then the answer always has to be:
"As much as possible".

I put down £80k on a £400k purchase back in 2003.
Recently taken some equity out to add square footage, current value would be around the £1.35M level.
Equity has gone up by about 250% since then. Pretty good investment!0
