Cutbacks to social work/support groups for autism making life a nightmare!

Options
Just got my assessment letter for ESA but as my social work support in last 2 years was cut back from like 12 hours a week private support and a few times a month social work support to losing support totally then recently my social worker I have nothing then local autistic group has closed due to lack of funding.

So my mental health is in a more fragile state of mind than in years, get some ok days and my bad days are far worse to the point of severe depression.

Just been lumped with a letter giving me just 7 days to prepare for a assessment that is at 8.40am in morning and want me there 10 minutes early which is 20 miles away and means I have to leave home around 7.15an to get there despite me having sleeping issues due to severe anxiety and depression, confusion from my autism and no help to get there!

So despite me having severe depression and such I am getting zero help.

This may seem like a rant which it is a little but also wanted support and advice on what to do, I will try and rearrange appointment but worried that will screw things up.

Sorry to hear that your care has been withdrawn and the autism centre closed down.. You have the right to request a home visit if you are unable to travel, I think.
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

You could also ask for a more convenient time. Travelling during morning rush hour probably isn't a good idea for someone with autism.

Do you have a local carer's centre? They may be aware of local voluntary groups that might be able to help you. I live in quite a large town and there are several autism support groups, but all are voluntary run, not council run. Social Services might also be able to find alternative groups if you contact their 'Adults with Disabilities' department.

7.15 Isnt particularly early, sometimes letting yourself worry about something is worse than the actual event, so easy for me to say I'm sure but try to relax and get up a bit earlier. Good luck.
