Family car recommendations?

Hi,
I've posted this already on the motoring board but in case:
I have a 1.4 ford focus (old style) at the moment and its on its last legs. I need recommendations for a new car. I have £5k to spend on one.
Faults with my focus:
Cramped in back with the kids car seats (2)
Boot on occasion hasn't been big enough
its a 3 door
I'm not interested in having a million buttons to push to put the radio etc on. I just want to get from A>B comfortably. It'll mostly be used for commuting to work - Kids only in it at weekend and when we go on holiday
So - what car do you have / recommend?

It has 3 full-sized seats in the back, a decent boot size and decent economy.
If you're wanting a newer car, the c-max might be a bit out of your budget. But you can get about an 06-08 plate for around £5k.
