Wednesday 18th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning everyone :hello:
Another day just for me to survive really. I'm tired again. It doesn't matter how early I go to bed, my brain or body rebels to make sure I'm not properly rested. Good news is though that on Saturday I don't have to get up to get ds to football. :j So the next couple of days are pretty much just about survival as far as I'm concerned.
Today's plans
 Keep reminding myself that it's not Thursday
 Check banking and PAD
 Full day of teaching
 Meeting after school
 Mark a set of books
 Ring some Year 10 parents
 Aim for nsd
 Meals from stores
 Early night
 Crochet
 Try and remain calm
Have a good day everyone

Morning all
CCL sorry you are feeling tired. Hope today isnt too tough.
I woke up at 5.30am so I got up to update my finances, empty the dishwasher and have a general tidy up.
Normal morning at job no. 1, then working at home on job no. 2. DS2 to pick up from school, bring home, feed and take to work. Then gym class at 6pm and DS2 to collect again at 8pm.
DS1 has a day off but he was grumbling last night that I dont do anything with him and he will be stuck at home on his own. Sigh.
Debt busting today? I think like CCL its a case of just getting through it. I wont have time to spend money!
Oh and I have my last audit to finish at some point, have left it a bit last minute and it has to be handed in tomorrow.0 -
Morning all :hello: thanks for starting us off cat with you on getting through the day. Is it really only Wednesday. YL that's a busy day, hope you're not too tired at the end of it.
My list for today:
Check banking, surveys and FPL. Need to upload some photos for a project I did for a survey
Print some personal stuff at work
HM soup and snacks to work, hot drink for commute
Tea from stores - using salmon and cooks lentils from freezer
Write list of things I need to do before holiday, being organised definitely saves money
No washing today, raining quite heavily here although yesterday's dried stuff needs going away
One thing from May/annoying things list.
Right must dash, check back later.0 -

Greetings Frugalistas,
Soggy day here, so catching up on indoor jobs.....of which there are many. Money-saving bits are as follows:
*Put a colour on my yukky roots, thus making a double saving of not going to a salon & having paid £4.99 instead of more usual £6.99 for the brand of hair colour I like. Electricity saved by letting hair dry naturally.
*Checked greenhouse veggies. All the stuff I planted out yesterday seems fine & the sweetcorn seedlings are up. Yay!!
*Paid 8 x 50ps into my sealed pot.
*Rounded up loose change & paid it into shrapnel tin.
*Jacket potato night.......aka 'While your jacket's in the oven, find something from stores that you fancy having on top of it!'. Very money saving. mr f says he's having some of the stew I made yesterday (from last of the rubber chicken) & I might have tuna melt & home grown salad or cheese & home made coleslaw. The only 'rule' with Jacket Potato Night is that you can't go out & buy anything extra or use something already earmarked for another meal :-)
*Sowed more mustard & cress seed on kitchen windowsill. V useful for sandwiches.
*Collected £15 knitting money.
*Postman brought latest Sainsbury's gift card from Toluna surveys (updated signature).
*Sorted large bag full of birthday paper, gift bags, envelopes, etc, & packed away into my wrappings box.
*Gifted spare aubergine plant to friend. Not money saving for me, but nice for someone else to start the day with a little freebie.
*Did a few surveys. Seem to have been accepted for a 2-week study which will pay 20,000 points if I stick with it (Note to self - Try to stick with it!!)
*Entered a competition.
*Check ebay to see how sales are going. Planning to list several more items on Sat while it's free listings month again.
*Do meal plans - a bit earlier than usual, but I think we will need to order in an online shop this week.
*Write shopping list & try to book a £1 'green' delivery slot.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Decamp to conservatory this afternoon to progress my upcycling project, as haven't managed to make a start on this yet, apart from getting the fabric together, finding the pinking shears & buying tape. This is going to be my afternoon job. Lunch break first!
*Finish colouring in one of the sheets a friend gave me......I think not really my thing, but they are making nice cards/notelets, so am definitely carrying on with the last two designs.
Was going to do a mid-month budget check-in today, but as it's proper Big Budget Day in 8 day's time, I think I will wait until then. I did round up all receipts/financial info to transfer to my bulldog clip in readiness for reconciling May's budget, so am feeling organised.
OK, will go & sort out some lunch now, so I can crack on this afternoon.
Cheers all,

2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Evening all

((Hugs)) to those who are struggling
Not much done today, as it is grandma day and I have been looking after little GD till a short while ago - long day!
Low spend day, just some stickers and a pack of kitchen rolls, both from the pound-ish shop
HM meals from stores, OH's turn to cook as I am grandma'd out :rotfl:
Baking with GD, as it was raining hard this morning and therefore we couldn't play outside. We made scones and 'beautiful' cupcakes which had to go on the fancy glass cake stand :rotfl:
Post office after lunch between showers, so GD had a nap in her pushchair and I returned an item of clothing that doesn't fit OH. We stopped to feed the ducks on the way
GD always eats at least half of the bread before we get to the ducks :rotfl:
Quick tidy up of toys, puzzles and crayons after GD taken home
And that is about it
Must do more tomorrow! 0 -
Oh, it's quiet on here today - I hope everyone is ok.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes - I have survived another day at school. The first chemistry exam is tomorrow though, so the nerves are starting to creep in...crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
