Does updating credit report affect credit rating?

I'm using my free months trial with equifax - I can update my credit report and score as often as I like? Can lenders see this? Is it bad to do it to often?

No lender sees your credit score its pointless other than as a very rough indication of how you MAY appear to lenders.
Update any incorrect information, Other than that leave it.
For gods sake make sure you cancel. These comapnies have made tens of millions out of people failing to cancel the free trial.£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000

Still a little unsure and curious about this. On the equifax page it has a button that says "update my credit report for free" - am I correct in thinking I can do this as often as I like and lenders can't see this?0

Presumably "update" here means refresh the output?
You cannot update "your" credit report, because it is not yours. Any organisation you have a financial relationship with, and lots more besides, can stuff "your" report with anything they like, ranging in accuracy from correct to criminally erroneous, but if you spot something that's wrong all you can do is plead with the CRA in question to put it right. You can't tell them, you can only ask them. For instance, if the CRAs are lying about a non-existent financial association, all you can do is ask them to remove it, and if they don't want to, they won't.0 -
I assume it means refresh the output yeah Bob - I'm just worried Incase lenders could see that I keep getting "up to date" views of my credit file0

No, they can't.0

Thanks, I know I should just use credit correctly and forget about it but I have ocd and feel the need to check if anything has improved a few times a week0

You do realise that credit reports are only updated monthly? A bit pointless to be checking several times a week for any changes.
After you cancel the free trial, use ClearScore (Equifax free version) and Noddle (Call Credit free version) to get regular monthly updates.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Whilst lenders will update the CRAs monthly, they don't necessarily all do it on the same day.Candyapple wrote: »You do realise that credit reports are only updated monthly? A bit pointless to be checking several times a week for any changes.
So the OP's report could contain different information each time its run.0 -

Yes. Plus there may also be things added, amended, links made etc, completely out of sequence with any lender's scheduled monthly updates.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
