As someone who has used both, W10 is appalling. Stick with W7, the last acceptable OS from MS that there will ever be IMHO.

    Appalling? Really????

    Why?

Surely, better/nicer is a personal opinion?

In what way is it faster, safer?
They are all personal opinions, whichever way W10 is described. The W7/10 debate has taken over from the Windows/IOS arguments.
Hence, the over excited comments that appear at both ends of the spectrum....;)

Uh huh, and the medium ground is that its a great O/S and a worthwhile upgrade.

Thanks for opinions Guys, seems very varied.
My Aspire came with Vista, then I upgraded to 7 about 3 years ago.
I only use it for surfing, any banking or secure use, I use my I-pad.
As it is old, BUT, still operates well, and reliable, I think I will stick with 7 , until I am either forced to upgrade, or change machine.
If anything can go wrong, it will for me.:rotfl:

It's obviously personal preference whether you choose to upgrade but one thing worth considering is the price. At the moment it's free to upgrade but from the 30th July it'll cost £99 for the home edition and £130 from the Pro edition.

Microsoft will also stop supporting Win 7 a long time before Win 10 but there's still a few years left of Win 7 support.

Granted, your PC is well past its end of life anyway so there could be a view that its best not to rock the boat but i certainly cant see an entrenched refusal to upgrade for any reason other than that to a better faster lighter more intuitive current O/S for free as anything other than being a luddite.

Very expensive film and slide scanners and other peripherals which have no Win10 drivers and most likely never will have being one such reason.

Hi Guys, I've put off windows 10 upgrade for ages, sick of the pop up'
Today it said it would auto upgrade on 29th, unless I opt out, which I did.
Is this the slippery slope of compulsory upgrading to 10?
I'm happy enough with 7, if it aint broke, why fix it.

Have you tried uninstalling and hiding the offending W10 update KB3035583? You might have to do it more than once because it creeps back. I have done it twice so far. I also opted out (mine was due this week).

Much easier (?) is to install the GWX Control panel

Win10 is better, lighter, faster, nicer.

Its a free upgrade to a better platform, so why not?
I personally thought it was a very simple question from the OP..
Is this the slippery slope of compulsory upgrading to 10?

Yet it must have been far too complex for you to formulate an answer. Other than trying (and failing) to sell Win10.

OP, simple answer to a straight forward question - YES!
