Hi Guys, I've put off windows 10 upgrade for ages, sick of the pop up'
Today it said it would auto upgrade on 29th, unless I opt out, which I did.
Is this the slippery slope of compulsory upgrading to 10?
I'm happy enough with 7, if it aint broke, why fix it.

Win10 is better, lighter, faster, nicer.

Its a free upgrade to a better platform, so why not?

Oh no, Microsoft is asking that you upgrade to a much faster and safer OS for free.

    What's the world coming to?

After just reading the problems with HP printer,( which I have),and other problems, my pc is over 10 years old, and the fact I'm happy enough with 7, why change.
    It suffices my needs.
I'm not disputing, 10 may be good, but, I really can do without pc problems, because my pc MAY not be compatible.
They seem to be forcing punters to upgrade.
They say, if I'm not happy after 31 days , I can revert back to 7, I would sooner not take the chance, and stay as I am.

I believe you will only see the upgrade notification if your PC is compatible.

If I had a 10 year old PC I wouldn't upgrade the OS either...However, I would consider upgrading the PC.
But, if it suffices your needs, good luck to you sir....

As someone who has used both, W10 is appalling. Stick with W7, the last acceptable OS from MS that there will ever be IMHO.

Surely, better/nicer is a personal opinion?

I've had maybe 10 different PCs either to upgrade to 10 or came with a native 10. I've had no issues with any of the machines either during the upgrade or after. All have been a better machine afterwards.

They're "forcing" people to upgrade because it makes sense for them - why support many O/Ss when its cheaper to support one? Also, from a business user base perspective its a massive upheaval to upgrade to a new O/S and the new O/S is going to be evolved - as per Android - rather than replaced.

Granted, your PC is well past its end of life anyway so there could be a view that its best not to rock the boat but i certainly cant see an entrenched refusal to upgrade for any reason other than that to a better faster lighter more intuitive current O/S for free as anything other than being a luddite.

Yes, and based on real world experience of upgrading maybe 10 machines from 7 upwards to 10, and / or having machines with a native install of 10.

My work laptop was a brand new machine that was reverted to a Win7 install and, given its a Lenovo i5 with a load of RAM, its slow, cumbersome and prone to crashing.

Any of the older machines i've upgraded have benefitted from the upgrade to 10 by being subsequently faster and generally nicer to use.

In fact my "latest" PC arrived over the weekend there - an ex business i3 Dell PC - and the first thing it'll get will be an upgrade to 10.
