is legal cover for car insurance worth it?

This sounds highly unusual.
Most companies don't have anybody working at them after liquidation.
There's a note on the door and the place is locked up and that's it.
How come you gave plans in place for liquidation?
No plans in place/ anticipation of liquidation at all. I was just answering rs65's question. But in business you have to be adaptable and fail to plan = plan to fail.
Being cloud based makes us adapatble and disaster recovery a lot easier. Over xmas York was wiped out in places with the floods, some of our servers were submerged along with the local phone exchange, so no incoming calls or call switching facilility for a while. Yet able to conact members by email or advise of an alternative tempory claims reporting number due to systems backup and remote access to members database.
So the above situation could still be used to contact members in the very unlikely and sad event matters could not continue. Doing the right thing by people, it's important, to me at least. Just because it is free doesn't mean it has to be crap.0 -
After liquidation the servers and company data will not belong to you.
Even if you have access you will be told in no uncertain terms that you have no rights to company property or to access company data. I appreciate you would be trying to act for the good but you have access to nothing (including the company tea bags and teaspoons). Technically if you take a teabag then it's theft.
It can be a shock when it happens but the fact that it's in the cloud makes no difference. Going onto the system would be unauthorised access.
Personally I'm getting a policy for £13.99 for 4 vehicles. That's £3.50 per vehicle. For that I get a legally binding contract, FCA and FSCS proptection and backed by a multi-national insurer.
I am not naive and I know this doesn't guarantee great service and I can still use free services if I choose to, but if I need it I have the legal entitlement to the cover (subject of course to Ts&Cs).
I don't believe all free companies are bad and I don't believe all insurers are great either but I prefer a legal contract where I have entitlements.
The chances of needing it are tiny, but £14 isn't going to break the bank either.0 -
Glad you got sorted with a product you are happy with.0

Thanks.
I've just unfortunately had quite a nasty reply from Total Motor Assist, who accused me of being malicious.
I am just a motorist with genuine enquiries and their unprofessional manner has been quite shocking.0 -
Sounds like they are best avoided doesn't it.0
