Canada Require ments and flight help

Options
Hi all,

I'm Long time reader, but I don't usually post much.

I am planning on Surprising my girlfriend, who is currently away working in Canada.

I was hoping someone could tell me what I need to be able to travel there and surprise her?

Also, when looking for flights the cheapest I'm currently finding are around £900? Can anyone help me beat this? (Looking to go at the end of July)

She is in British Columbia, but I know she had to fly to Vancouver and get a 10hour bus across the county to Penticton.

Any tips/money saving help would be hugely appreciated.

Regards,

Apply for an ETA if you don't already have one: Start here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta-facts-en.asp which is the official Canadian Government site. It costs $7 and should come through in minutes. If you have to declare 'issues' (such as illness) then it can take a week, so don't leave it until last minute.

Make sure your passport has at least 6 months left on it.

You don't mention where you are flying from, or exact dates. Air Transat from Manchester have return flights direct to Vancouver for £786, Westjet from Glasgow £767, or £735 direct from Heathrow. Thats for July 21-28, give or take a day based on price. You can certainly get flights below £600 but with very long stopovers.

End of July = peak season = higher prices
What are your dates and where can you fly from?
Are you willing to fly indirect if it saves ££?

Air Canada fly from Vancouver to Penticton, flight is 50 mins

ESTA is used for entry into the USA, Canada has ETA.

Right, I will apply for an ETA using that link once my flights are sorted.

My closest Airport is Leeds/Bradford, but I am willing to travel anywhere to catch the cheapest flight.

I reckon I would look to be flying on the 27th July for either a week or 10days.

£786 from Manchester sounds like a better deal, as im sure it would cost me £50 to get to London and Back etc

    Thanks for your help

Technically you don't need an ETA until September. However, some airlines are insisting on them even if the Canadians aren't,

I would always recommend the other way round.

This is £651 from Glasgow, adds on travel costs but direct flights which for me is always a big plus. Slightly longer than 10 days but fits with Air Transat timetable. You could come back Friday 5th for £701. Alternatively Manchester flights longer duration but more convenient start point https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#search;f=MAN;t=YVR;d=2016-07-28;r=2016-08-08;sel=MANYYZ0TS209-YYZYVR0TS968,YVRYYC0TS967-YYCYYZ0TS967-YYZMAN0TS206;so=d
