Servicing stop - complaints

so earlier this month my other half sent her car away with sevcing stop for MOT and Service

all of a sudden they ring us telling us there needs to be £800+ worth of repairs done to the car
(£460 of it on a clutch witch has nothing to do with the MOT )

we tell them not to do any advisory work and only what needs doing to pass the MOT
so in total it was £418 -

after reciving the invoice and finding out the work that was done was advisories i was some what Fuming.

i emailed serving stop with my complaint and took 4 days for anyone to get back to me after me ringing them again - i took my car to an independant garage who told me the wheel bearings have not been changed ( witch servingstop should of done ! ) i brough up the breaks are now faulty they havent changed the bearings ( provided invoice from independant garge to show there comments )
i asked servicing stop to check there call recordings because we didnt ask for advisory work to be carried out and on that day the call recording system was faulty apptrently

i feel like they are not taking me seriouse and when i express toi them i will take this further i get vague emails back even after me asking for a managers details

im not sure how i go forward with this

How did you pay? If you have documented evidence of your claims I'd be looking at a chargeback (if debit card) or Section 75 claim (if credit card).

Or you could figure out what work NEEDED to be done (ie what you agreed to) and how much that would have cost then send a letter before action for the difference, obviously only do this if you're willing to go to court and have documented evidence to back up your claim.

the work that was done was all advisories !
none of them needed doing at that moment in time
it was my girlfriend on the phone they spoke to
i would be prepaird to go to court with this
i have paper work from other garage showing that bearings havent been done and need repalcing

so basicly i should of only paid for MOT & Service at £99
    instead of £418

i also paid by Debit card online throught there autmatic invocing service

I'd never let my car be taken off to an unknown garage. I was ripped off by a garage 30 years ago, and it still makes me annoyed now!

Good luck with getting a refund - I hope you manage it.

If they have not done the bearings how did they damage your brakes?

How does your garage know they have not done the bearings?

Presumably when the repair shop called you up and told you "there needs to be £800+ worth of repairs done to the car", you asked for an explanation.

They then presumably went through step by step as to all the repairs they were recommending; some you would have accepted, and some you declined (such as the clutch repair)

They must have done this to get to the revised price of £418 they then quoted you.

If you have now had that work done that you authorised, then I can't see really what possible claim you now have.

they told us this work needs doing all we told them is do what work needs to be done to pass the mot NO ADVISORES.
when we got the invoice all the work were advisories.
the company have admitted the bearings are human error now but still have no intention on giving my money back for them.
i questioned everything from the start and when i tell them to check the call recording system it was down that day so now they say we can not prove we told them to do no advisories
if companies did not mislead people into thinking this work needed to eb done we wouldnt have this problem

yes so i have been charged for bearing work that they even admitted hasnt been done hasnt said anything about giving me my money back and said its now a case of he said she said because the '' call recording system' was down that day !
and the breaks are faulty because they did a flush on them with the fluid and never came back the same and dont even admit they did that even tho break fluid is on the invoice

Interesting, so neither party can prove they confirmed whether they should do the work or not, and presumably they are saying you told them to do some work but not other work?

How would that work in court?

well they used deborah meadon and the TV show as their bargaining chip to investors I dont expect them to be any more honorable to their customers.
