    Get a foodstuff on clothing, complain and find it washes out at home = get criticised for wasting the time of staff

    Better than working in retail though.

    Customer has minor smudge on clothing, member of staff suggests washing it, customer will want member of staff sacked accusing them of not caring!!

    Betty Botter had some butter,
    "But," she said, "this butter's bitter.
    If I bake this bitter butter,
    It would make my batter bitter.
    But a bit of better butter,
    That would make my batter better."
    So she bought a bit of butter –
    Better than her bitter butter –
    And she baked it in her batter;
    And the batter was not bitter.
    So 'twas better Betty Botter
    Bought a bit of better butter.

    When I worked on checkouts, a customer's bottle of milk fell over on the conveyor belt and splashed over the customer.
    I called the checkout manager over, who got a cleaner down to clean up, and offered to pay for the dry cleaning bill of the customer.

    The prudent thing for OP to have done was let customer services know, so they could have a chance to rectify the situation, and also get a cleaner to clean the affected area, so that no other customers suffered.
