    When do you return?
    Where in South Africa?

    Skyscanner
    Google Flights

Egyptian and Turkish options may be of interest. No idea how good they are.

Return 4-5 weeks later. Thanks will try your suggestions also. Prices are hugely different.

    R Prices are hugely different.

be aware that many third party sites do not show live pricing so many of the fares advertised may not actually be available to purchase
    often the process will be....
make a 'request for booking' with the third party for £x
agent charges your card and then 24/48 hours later call to advise that the flight you requested is not available at that price and need an additional £y
at this point you can either pay the extra or wait for the money already paid to be refund (may take weeks)
If you want to see the real prices look at the fares offered direct from the airline

The process will be very much easier if you book direct with an airline.I suggest that you have a look at Ethiopian Airlines: their fares are reasonable; the in-flight experience is acceptable; they offer a free stop-over in Addis Ababa (which is well worth seeing).

Thanks for advice. Helluva price differences between turd parties and airline direct. As expected this will cost 2 arms and 1 leg due to shirt notice of trip.

July is high season so bargains are unlikely but you may find the prices from Dublin more to your liking even with adding on a cheap placement flight from the UK to Dublin.

I'd use either google flights or kayak.co.uk to check the prices

Since you haven't put any examples of prices quoted, how can you expected to be helped?

Nifty, if you have read my 1st post you would know I asked for other vendors/website to try. But as you ask for best current prices I have found:

Depart 9 July, return 10 Aug
    1 Adult, 1 x 14yo, 1 x 11yo

    Google flights from:
    Dublin - Qatar €2228
    Manchester - Qatar £1650, Emirates £1950
    LHR - Egypt £1770

    Netflights:
    Dublin - BA £1800
    Manchester - Emirates £1600-1700, Swiss £2000
    LHR - Swiss £1900

    Air France:
    £2540
    £2400
    £2258

    Kayak:
    £1800+
    £1900
Lots of option with long connecting times. Cost of getting to London and back makes others better option

Lots of flights with verrrry long connections so tried to avoid them.

Cheapest I found from London to Jo'burg was around £477 per person, but that was leaving around the 4th.
Next was Arik Air from the 7th to the 14th for an adult price of £500.
Not that I am recommending them.
Now you have posted some examples, perhaps some will come up with better examples.
    No long connections involved.
