What is the max loan you get.......

on a non income assessed loan?

Also if you get an income assessed loan, even though my mother earns very little, she had a large divorce settlement, will this affect it?

This is for my sister, she's 20 and living with my mum (don't know if this affects anything)

Cheers x
:p Love being a mummy

  • The maximum loan for a student living at parent's home is £3495. 75% of this is non-income assessed this is £2621.15.

    The other 25% is income-assessed.

Your mum's income will be used in the assessment unless your sister has been supporting herself financially for 3 years, this would be proved by 3 years of P60s or by claiming benefits.

They will look at any income your mum has, that is earnings and interest off savings (not the savings themselves), there's a few other things too. Your sister should apply for income-assessed and see what happens.

Sorry this is confusing. You imply if your parents earn over the threshold you'll only get £2621.15? Is that what you are saying?

My parents earn over that and I'm getting £3385 this year (going into my third year). I got about £3100 in my first year.

I think they're saying that's the amount if you live at home during term time...non income assessed if you live away from home when you're at uni will be higher and higher still if you are at uni in London.
