Thomson Warning

Just a little warning to anyone booking a holiday with Thomson.

We booked our holiday with them and they contacted us regarding booking extra legroom seats. They told us that for £30 per person we could have extra legroom seats and free drinks for the duration of our flight. I thought it was a bit strange on a short haul flight but they assured me it was a special offer and a new service so I agreed. When we received the paperwork there was nothing about the free drinks. I have been trying to contact them on an almost daily basis but am not getting anywhere (apart from talking to people in their Indian contact centre who, surprisingly, cannot really understand my issue).

We've been told that once added, holiday extra's are non-refundable. So we have been stung for £90.

Just wanted to warn anyone else about this. Thomson customer service is near on non-existent. Even in the shop they told me that they couldn't do anything as I had booked online. It's dreadful that they are robbing honest people by deception.

I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THOMSON AGAIN!!!!!! Be warned folks.

    How did they contact you?

By phone. They are saying that they don't keep records of phone calls so there will be no evidence that I was told about the free drinks. :(

They should have a record of who made the sale.

Escalate to a supervisor and see what happens.

    Then consider MCOL action.

I've escalated but they say no refunds and they don't keep records of calls. The call centre is clearly in India, I have never experienced such dreadful customer service (or lack of it) from a company. It's dreadful. What is MCOL? Thanks.

This seems to be the email address for their CEO. I would email him.

    david.burling@thomson.co.uk

I hope it is still current.

I would also post on their Facebook page as it says on there that you get a reply within the hour so it appears to be well monitored, plus they hate negative comments!!

Thanks AndyPandy! I'll definitely be on to the big man, that's a great shout thank you :)

I did the Facebook page contact - they private measaged me to tell me about the "no refund" and not keeping call recordings. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with! Never again!!

What is it that you're looking for from your complaint, a free drink or do you want to cancel the legroom seats also?

Is this really the worst company you've ever dealt with? If so I'd consider yourself quite fortunate!

Thanks for your reply Alice. I would like Thomson to remove the extra legroom seats and take the £90 charge off. Perhaps I should have been clearer, they are not the worst company that I have dealt with but they certainly have provided me with the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered.

I don't consider myself misfortunate at all, I just don't think that I have been treated very fairly and I think it should be well known that Thomson are treating customers unethically. From speaking with other people I am not the only one to have experienced issues with them either.
