Bankers, bankers, bankers... we all know what they rhyme with.

OP, how about moving your current a/c to a bank who pays you to do so? Straight away there's usually £100 you don't have to borrow, maybe more.

Just shop around, try the eligibility calculators (invaluable and leave no trace on your credit file) sooner or later you will find someone to lend to you if your circumstances warrant it. Don't take it personally that the bank you have been a loyal customer with for years won't lend to you, it's all about profit and nothing to do with people. This is the world we live in. Remember, you are the customer, not them! They don't deserve your loyalty, just get the best deal you can.

And to those who have no patience with new people who have not spent weeks/months reading every thread on here, sticky or otherwise, either get some manners or refrain from commenting! Ever occur to you their need is probably too urgent? No, of course not! Read the forum etiquette and rules, since either you never have or it is so long since you did, you think you own these boards. You will find MSE disagrees with you. I am totally with Fusion on this and really expected better. There are times when this might as well be TwitterFace.

Smodlet - have done don't worry.
In a reply to Tim - as he brought religion in with his "god given right" statement. Let me give you a parable you may understand -in this age of sexual and age related equality.
Tim and a 70 year old man both applied to the same Building Society for a mortgage of the same amount. Their financial situations were identical BUT the Building Society gave the mortgage to the 70 year old. Apparently there was more chance of them dieing so they could repossess the property and then re-mortgage it to someone else and make even more money. Tim was notified that he hadn't got a mortgage and told to check his situation with Experian - he did and found it favourable. When he tried to contact the Building Society they failed to reply and this situation continued with every application he made as this seemed to be a general practice among Building Societies. Poor Tim was left with nothing left to do but pay exorbitant rents until he reached 70. Posting on a Moneysaving forum he was told to "grow up and get over it"
    QED

Do let me know where I brought religion into it, or has your sense of outrage damaged your eyesight as well as your ego?!?

Sorry it's my failing eye sight and early dementia - was that the only part you read then? I must have made my arthritic fingers ache for nothing.

Yeah, the limited attention span of youth. The elderly don't half ramble on, but I suppose they don't have many people to talk to...

Sorry were you saying I must be young to have not taken in all of your post? The joy of being old - I have achieved it, will you?

    Children, children...:D

Good manners will never go out of fashion despite the best efforts of some. Again, read the etiquette/rules. I did not write them, someone with an O.B.E. did.

I must apologise for going off topic, entertaining though it has been - perhaps Tim you would like to volunteer at your local Age Concern to continue your conversations with your elders.:rotfl:
