It amazes me how little people know about the business world.

I get asked if I'd do a discount for cash and when I tell them the banks actually charge me to bank cash, the customers think I'm being screwed over and it's illegal

I take it the OP just wanted to vent since he (or she) hasn't asked for any advice. Being angry with NatWest/RBS is a waste of your energy, particularly so angry you have "steam coming from your ears."

If you're not happy, don't get angry, vote with your feet instead and take your custom elsewhere. There are lenders out there offering better rates than RBS/NatWest anyway.

    Hi lee,

times have moved on a little as you have seen. However fear not, this is a GOOD thing. It means that you can scour the market by using tools like the nse eligibility calculator and usually get a loan at a better rate than your bank will offer you.(yes banks used that loyalty factor to screw quite a bit of money out of their loyal customers).

So get yourself out shopping for the best loan for you. Oh and whilst you are at it you may want to do thesame for your current account and bag yourself up to £100 in the process.

This is now the modern way, it requires a little more effort than being a passive customer but can reap significant rewards.
    £1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
    LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298

I think those customers probably don't understand why people take cash. You know, not declaring it in your tax return.

"I hate the MSE attitude problem, I've noticed it alot lately how you all get high and mighty.

I'd dare to say you've probably gone through the same process.

been baffled as to why have I been declined??

it's a debt forum and people want advice not sarcastic retorts."

Fusionx212, you are absolutely right. MSE is supposed to be above MyTwitFace, I am having the exact same problem. Good for you!:T

Going into the bank and applying for a loan is not how it's done anymore!. Now that we have credit reports I can go to which ever loan company offers the best rate and get that. Before you were restricted to your own bank and whatever rate they were offering no matter how high it was.
Banking with the same bank for an extended period of time is also a bad idea because your missing out on swithing bonuses and high interest accounts.

I recommend you take the time to read the loans and bank account guides on this site and you will see how best to manage your money and accounts.

Most of the "MSE attitude problem" is caused by the same question(s) being asked over and over again, with the answer(s) also being available on the boards and guides on this very site.

Posters want answers, but seem unwilling or unable to do any of the legwork themselves; and others are getting a bit tetchy with being asked to help someone who won't help themselves.

this is how the modern world operates now adays, the invent of the internet and masses of information it's sometimes not easily achievable to pull the same information.

there's also an expectation of ability and understanding of how search buttons work which for some is a simple task and for some not such a simple task.

if you don't have the patience to be helpful.

Then don't take the time to reply a sarcastic do it your self message.
