Ebays Fee Reduction

hi there, im new here, so hello everyone!

i just have a few question regarding ebay fees.

my main question is, if im going to sell alot of expensive items on ebay, will it be cheaper to just sell them normally, or have a ebay shop?

It going to be for a long period of time.

or are there other ways to reduce the fees?

thanks

  • I would say advertise them normally on the site as you will get all the exposure. I'm still not sure if having a shop is worth it as most of the listings will be hidden from the main search listings. If they are that expensive you should look into having them featured so they get the most exposure possible. If they are MEGA expensive then maybe feature it on ebay home page!
  • Having just a basic shop does have limited exposure, but if you do have a lot of items to sell it may be worth putting some in the normal listings & the rest in your shop, you will at least have the link to the shop in the regular listings.

Shops are cheaper listing fee wise, but I believe they do charge a higher final sale fee. Best look into that first.

It depends on how congested the categories in which you will be selling are.
For example, one of my categories is die cast models - pages and pages of thousands of listings, by specialising in rare and unusual models, people come looking for us, we couldn't hope to compete on run of the mill models.
Another category is mountain boards - a tiny category with only half a page of listings, shops are easily visible on there.

I would say that if you would have to list and re-list an average of 3 times per item for a sale, a shop would be cheaper, if an item sells first time, BIN is cheaper. As you don't specify what the high priced items are or whether new/second hand, it's impossible to advise you further. Do some research on completed listings, if the items in question regularly sell in Bin, it would be a fairly safe bet.
I've only had 1 in 50 of a particular item unsold at the first time of listing, it's all about the research.

Depends what you are selling really - sounds like you have come into a load of antiques/ collectables or something similar.
If you actually have hundreds and hundreds of items that are rare you might consider a shop but for everyday items that always are appearing, just a plain auctions would be best.
Rare and hard to come by items quite often can sell at a premium in a shop and still bring in a steady flow of income rather than the deluge you might get from listing them all seperately on auctions.
I would open a basic shop and close it down after a year or two.
Lots of luck will the selling:D
