Octopus Energy reviews: Give your feedback

You’re not wrong there. TOU tariffs are entirely dependent on smart meters, s9 if that’s not something you’re willing to have, which you previously mentioned, then pointless even considering it,
the tracker price for gas is rather high, but the current tracker electricity price isn’t bad. Must say the graphs in the account aren’t particularly intuitive. I much prefer just looking at the unit rates on the energy stats website. Intend on moving to go next month so giving the tracker a go this month to see what happens.0 -
Which energy stats website do you use and does it include both retail unit kwh prices and standing charges? One without the other strikes me as a bit lop-sided.
We will be interested to hear how you fareTelegraph Sam

I've already mentioned to you, the guylipman website has all the information you need:
See here for electricity: https://energy.guylipman.com/sm/electracker
See here for gas: https://energy.guylipman.com/sm/gastracker
For excellent info on agile vs octopus go see the energy stats website: https://www.energy-stats.uk/octopus-go-versus-agile-london/
In my opinion, far easier to look at compared to the octopus graphs on their website and account pages.
Theres no need to have retail unit kwh prices and standing charges. The guylipman website has all the retail kwh prices incl vat. The standing charge for octopus tracker is the same throughout (i.e. 18.33p for me on elec)
Of course will let you know how my month or two on tracker goes before i jump ship for go.0 -
I have now applied to be signed up for Tracker and will therefore be more than interested in your experience. In particular how the system converts daily usage readings - without a smart meter - into a monthly charge. Perhaps they just take a crude average.Telegraph Sam

How we calculate daily usage
Our smart meter rollout will start in the next few months and until then we'll use the meter readings you give us, and apportion usage to each day using the official Profile Coefficients for electricity, and Annual Load Profiles for gas. We make projections with the official estimated consumption figures for each meter (known as EAC for electricity and AQ for gas), or in their absence, the estimates customers give us. The more meter readings you give us, the more accurate we can be.

Sounds a bit Smoke & Mirrors but the video demo site seems to do something similar by varying the inputs depending on the month. I once won a £1 credit on the Octopus Wheel of Fortune. Perhaps submitting more frequent readings will improve my chances of a repeat.Telegraph Sam

You can only spin the wheel of fortune once a month, so more frequent reading make no difference to that.Telegraph_Sam said:Sounds a bit Smoke & Mirrors but the video demo site seems to do something similar by varying the inputs depending on the month. I have been giving readings every few days, however because I'm still in my first week with octopus I think they're assuming each reading is an updated opening reading so it just updates the reading as my first!! Eek.
I was expecting some nice analytics of tracker prices, but basically all you get are the same demo graphs that you were looking at sam.0 -
I might end up taking the data from Guy Lipman except that this does not attempt to do any forecasting as the video demo does in some obscure way. If your opening reading keeps getting "postponed" one wonders how the "missing" kwh's will be accounted for. It will be interesting to hear what you make of your first Tracker invoice.Telegraph Sam

Here's a section from our recent bill showing electricity on tracker. It's been higher than I would have liked in the winter but seems to be coming down in March. The electricity wholesale price has also been fluctuating more than gas, although that was also higher in winter and had significant daily variation on some days.
