Friday 13th May - What lucky DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Good morning Friday folks
I hope that nobody is very superstitious - least of all me, because I have a load of stuff I need to get done after my lazy day yesterday.
Ziggy - be kind to yourself my lovely. You've been through so much recently.
So, plans for today
 check banking and PAD
 low spend day as I have to pay 50p each for the kids non uniform day
 get dd to gymnastics
 get ds to football training
 mark at least 2 sets of books
 use my free time at work wisely
 do not get stressed out
 remind myself that if I work hard at work it is less to bring home
 have an early night
 do some crochet
 find time for exercise if I can
That will do for today - have a good one everyone :wave:Not giving up

Good morning!!
I notice the subtle change to the title, very clever.
Unfortuntatly it's a working day for me, with a large event tonight, so I really hope there isn't any bad luck coming my way.
DFW list for today is simple given I'll be at work 8am-11pm;
- Bring lunch into work
- Charge phone at work
- Check banks and YNAB
- Enjoy a complimentary breakfast and dinner from work
Have a good day everyone!0 -
Morning all :hello: thanks for the start cat my bad luck has already hit. Let's hope it's the only one. Left my laptop charger at work meaning the only day I have at home to get any work done is limited to either approx 3 hours on the laptop (not feasible have too much to do) or drive a 2.5 hour round trip to collect meaning I don't get any work done in that time :(
Anyway moving on. Today will look like:
Pointless commute
Meals from stores
Post one fleabay item
Check banking, DH got paid £150 extra, will get him to check his payslip
Work tonight to cover pointless journey
Run for free and to try and release some anxiety
Try and get that last 5p on 1poll, yesterday was not friendly
Hope the day gets better
and is better for everyone else. PF

Hi guys
thanks for starting the threa cat :A eek just realised its Friday 13th  I'm not at all superstitious but have to go to a meeting about a complaint that's been made about by one of the service users at the crisis cafe. Hope it's not an omen!
Yesterday was a really frustrating day for me because of this complaint/issues with the employer. The office is a good 45 mins away, I have to pay for childcare for at least 2 hours but prob more like 2 1/2 - 3 hours and they were saying they would pay me for 1 hour which wouldn't even cover the childcare costs  I have to argue with them over everything it's ridiculous! I went back to them and explained I was coming in during my personal time and at the expense of time with dgd and all the time I was driving there it is for work purposes and if she was coming here she would be doing that during her working time. They reluctantly agreed to pay me for 2 hours. I love the cafe but hate the organisation  can't wait till I find another job!
Anyway enough of the moan!
Do a load and hang out
Take dgd to the park when I pick her up after the meeting
Submit expenses while at the office
Pick up supplies for the cafe today (really depends on what goes on because I feel there's a strong chance I will say I'm not prepared to work for them anymore)
All meals from stores - get something out of the freezer for dinner
Call her dept of the company I've got interviews next week and ask them to email me the jds/person specs so I can prepare over the weekend
Ok so hats my little! Have a great day everyone xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all

Thanks for the start CCL, I hadn't thought about it being Friday 13th :rotfl:
PF - what a pain and waste of time having to go into the office just to pick up a power cable  Hope your day improves.
DNMS, hope the meeting goes ok, it does sound a bit of a nightmare organisation to work for, especially as it isn't very well paid. Hope you find something else soon.
OK, list for me today:
Already had HG stewed fruit with breakfast instead of bought fruit
Dog walk (OH can do the other one)
Smallish shop at Mr S - it will have to be small because our bloomin road is still closed (so limited to what I can carry), and it is not possible to get the car out unless I do it pre-8 am and leave it in some random place half a mile down the road if I can find a space
Still that in itself is moneysaving I suppose!
HM meals from stores (not sure what yet, meal planning failure
)
List some more bits on ebay
Bit of paperwork for small biz
Some cleaning (plenty to choose from
)
Some gardening (much more fun
)
Check banks
Any surveys, FPL etc
Decide where some pictures can go - I love my picture collection, have them everywhere. These latest two are lovely old flower prints, £4 treat from car boot sale
Right, better get off backside and do something! Hope everyone has a lucky day

Morning Friday Frugalistas,
And on today's list.......
*Peg out load of towels washed overnight for free drying.
*Water veggie garden & greenhouse.
*Plant out another tray of plants - free seeds = free summer colour.
*Plant up another trough of lettuces.....red ones this time.
*Sow more radishes - free seeds.
*Sort out sack of rubbish in garden....not moneysaving, but decluttering activity always keeps my head in a good space iyswim.
*Make bread rolls.
*Pack small lunch for tomorrow - town centre trip planned & I don't really want to be buying sandwiches /panini when I'd prefer to save my cash for other things.
*Write a letter - will use home made card, recycled envelope & I already have stamps.
*Wrap friend's birthday gift using pretty bits & bobs from my recycled wrappings box.
*Put all relevant vouchers/giftcards in my purse ready for tomorrow's shopping trip.
*Find pinking shears & start planned upcycling projects.
*Wash hair & save electricity by letting it dry naturally.
*Sort out everything in my stair basket.....including admin & financial filing tasks.
*Do at least 2 surveys.
*Add 2 items to the presents box.
*Pull more rhubarb & combine with clementines which badly need using up to make orange & rhubarb muffins. Some for weekend picnics & some for freezer.
*Make lentil soup in slow cooker, using up old ham stock from freezer.
Ok. Feeling motivated. Best get cracking. Love to all,

Hi All,
Today has started rubbish for me. DS1 and DD seem to insist on constantly fighting and bickering and nothing I do is working :mad: (they are 5 and 3). Today, DD has decided to wake up a pain in the.....bum! Throwing DS1's clothes around, then kicking him, screaming at the top of her lungs, hiding under the bed when I need to do her hair and then thumping her feet on the floor (exactly what I need with them downstairs!), been rude, demanding....the list is endless and its not even 10am
- school run done
- entertain DD and DS2 done
- check banking and update balances for DMP ready to send tomorrow done - worse than I thought
- nursery run with DD (woooooo hehe :rotfl:) done - she's been naughty all morning and got upset when I left her there
- house hunt nothing new
A good friend of mine has been going through a hard time lately and has asked to meet for a drink. I have available funds for it although its not very DFW! Could do with a catch up with her and wouldnt be out for long as have an early start tomorrow for DD's dancing.
Hope you all have a lovely day and dont worry about it being Friday 13th, what will be will be! xxDMP Started June 20160 -
Afternoon all,
Busy day for me as I'm going between campuses today. On the plus side I do get to finish about 4.15pm which will be nice!
LSD - I just bought a coffee in between meetings
Completely unnecessary but I've been good all week so will view it as a treat
All meals from stores
Trip to the cinema tonight with our unlimited cards
I have a workshop this afternoon for the qualification I'm doing and a 1-to-1 with the tutor beforehand to see if I can come up with a focus for my assignment. I really need to start writing something for it this weekend
I haven't been sleeping very well at all recently - only had 3 hours on Wednesday night! I slept through last night but still feel drained so will try and have an early night tonight followed by a relaxing weekend

Hi again,
Managed quite a lot of my list, but not the gardening jobs, except for watering, so have postponed those to tomorrow afternoon & Monday. Didn't make my rhubarb & muffins either as we didn't have any eggs left. mr f got all the shopping in & only went over this week's budget by 70p! Can't moan at that, can I? Already paid it off CC, which we only use for planned spending in this way, so as to maximise M&S vouchers. The soup is in containers waiting to cool for freezing. Rose Elliott's 'Golden lentil' from my old battered copy of her 'Cheap & easy vegetarian'. According to mr f, it's the best one I've made......which is interesting as I made it in the slow cooker & just tipped it into a jug at the end to blitz it up. It did come out really velvety smooth, so shall make it that way in future. I don't feel like doing any more jobs now, so that's it for my money saving today.

DNMS - Don't know if you saw it, but I did answer your question on yesterday's thread......the one where you asked me about little squeaky critters with tails & whiskers.
