i hvae meyer stainless steel pans and i love them. the marks are usually just from the water etc but they are the best pans around. mine are actually not the shiny finish but the satin one (they were on sale through amazon) but the same principle. i'm hoping they will last me many years! i've not tried astonish yet but i will get some! i'd advise sticking with them - they are far more robust than you think!

Mr Warren and odds and sods

Well, I love cabbage and I like sprouts! so what am I to do:eek: I just want pans I can do everything in and not be afraid to put them on a high heat, what do you think about that? and usually when I empty cooked contents out of pan, I steep it straight away, with these, I have to wait until they are cold. Do you think the manufacturer is being over cautious? I paid £121 for these 3 pans. they had 30% off.

Mine also have a brushed steel exterior but the lids are very shiny steel.

Thanks to everyone for comments. Very helpful.

Well, I have decided to stick with them, I suppose a lifetime guarantee should tell me something! I cooked a curry in the pan I did the sprouts in and the mark left by the sprouts has gone! I did the rice in the other one and that was fine too, a slight discolouration inside but no blotches. Maybe I will have to cook sprouts in microwave.

Now I am looking for a saute pan with lid and a frying pan, any suggestions ;) .

what does the colour matter if they function and last forever as le crueset do.
My le cruiset frying pan is 3 years old and all the non stick has peeled off. I bought a new, John Lewis one yesterday and put the le cruiset in the bin. Very disappointing.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

The classic collection by John Lewis is fantastic. I have the large frying pan with a lid and I use it all the time, and in the oven (though it isn't non stick) I bought 2 more yesterday - a small non stick one for omlettes and pancakes and a larger non stick one for DH to do fry ups in as I think you need non stick for fried eggs!

  • I remember my prestige lifetime ones did this at first, I cant remember if it wore off or I just got used to it. It doesnt affect their life or usage.

Le creuset try ply non stick pans are supposed to have a 10 year guarantee, if yours was one of those you should have taken it back to the shop.

Is it still in the bin?

A while ago I posted because my brand new le creuset stainless steel pan had stained after I cooked brussel sprouts in it. I rang their helpline and they told me to rub a little lemon juice inside the pan then rinse and the stain would come off. It worked and the pan is as good as new. :j well, it is new actually.
  • So you are back to cooking BS and other Brassicas in your new set of pans....I prefer sprouts cooked in the microwave anyway. For a good frying pan try TEFAL. You can't go wrong. My mother has a kind of Le Creuset frying pan with pyrex lid. It cooks the best fried potatoes you have ever had. When they were little my daughters asked for potatoes like memee (french for Grandma).

    Hello Mr Warren

Yes I will be cooking my sprouts in the pan, now that I know how to get rid of the stain. I used to have Le Creuset cast iron cookware and loved it but too heavy and the enamel is wearing off now. I wouldn't throw it out though as it was a wedding present 36 years ago. My stainless steel pans are the first new ones in all that time! I will look at Tefal frying pans but will probably be buying the Lidl one too. Good price.

Also, just as a point of interest, my baby grandsons other granny is called meme and their family lived in South Africa, the grandad is called Oupa.
