can someone please confirm who is responsible for my Flight Delay compensation application ? I'm being fobbed off by everyone involved ! I booked/paid flights with Thomas Cook - only to discover at the Airport that we'd been dumped on a cheap Turkish flight and the crew turned up over 3 hrs late !!!
Ombudsman claims it would be Turkish Flight co but as they're not in the EU I've no chance
CAA aren't sure but suggest I wrote to both T.C. & Turkey - which I've done with little or no response
T/Cook reckon my claim should be against Turkish company
ARGHHHHH -is it just a slippy shoulder game hoping I'll get bored and give up?...a but like UK Insurance companies who give staff bonus's for each claim that gives up after 6months!

    who you booked through irrelevant. Claim is from operating airline
    If delay is from UK to Turkey then EU261 applies and, depending on reason for delay and actual arrival time, compensation applies
    If delayed from Turkey to UK then no EU261 cover and case closed

    Your question, to some extent has already been answered. Posting again in a different thread won't change the answer.
    Try a NWNF company of solicitors such as Botts. Putting your flight details into the website will help you establish if you have a valid claim. Then either let them do it or start reading up and make your own claim.

    You say you only found out at the airport.....

    Did your original booking confirmation state a Thomas Cook Airlines flight (TCX_____) & if so at what point was the change made?

    Check the flight details on flightstats.com, or post the flight number here so it can be checked.

    Did you check-in online & print off boarding passes? If so, were they for a Thomas Cook flight of for the Turkish airline?

    JP, CAZ, if T.C. made an operational decision to either cancel one of their own flights, or deny the passenger boarding due to overbooking (for example) & put them on an alternative flight at short notice, would they not still have a valid claim against T.C. ?

    Flight delays - Vauban's Guide has been of immense help - please read it before posting questions - I'll be surprised if your answers aren't in there.
    April 2016 - successfully claimed €1600 from Thomas Cook for 6 hour delay in August 2015
    Old debt passed to collection agency? Issue CCA request & possibly have debt rendered unenforceable. Feb 2021 - £42 of old debt legally written off & cost £1 per account.
