Extension - neighbours have objected but AFTER the deadline

it's a straightforward extension with render and glass doors, an extension of the current time shall we say.
we have to advise the council what we are doing and as part of the permitted development application it has to go to the neighbour consultation scheme.0 -
The council advised it is the first time in their entire history that this has happened !
And I'm afraid I believe this in the same was as I believe in the tooth fairy. Utter rollox.
However, what the council choose to do is their job and I'm not sure what right of appeal (as in "you are not abiding by your own rules") you might have.
As for what a 'victory' to either side will do to your neighbourly relations I shudder to think, particularly since tea & cake have already been deployed once.

If it is a larger home extension prior notification my understanding is if they have missed the deadline then it has to be disregarded and it should get the "rubber stamp" approval, provided no other neighbours have objected.
The fact that it has never happened before is quite plausible as it is only a temporary scheme and only been around for 3 years or so.0 -

In a way, I think it would be better for council to consider and dismiss it than not to consider it at all. Depending on neighbour, they may go for every bit of obstruction along the way if they didn't get a hearing first time . At least if they are heard and the objection dismissed, they would know they have a weak viewpoint 'officially'.0

we had a very positive final outcome and today have been granted planning permission
the objection was deemed as too late to entertain.0
