Even with the new EU rates data use can still add up to a large sum. Phones update and use data in the background so you always use more data than you think.
Free wifi is so widespread in most places I agree it is best to have roaming turned off. You can do without the internet 24 hours a day!0 -
You'll need to ask them for their particular WiFi name/id (it will show as the one with the strongest signal on your phone) and the password. Select their WiFi, enter the password, then 'Connect'.Even with the new EU rates data use can still add up to a large sum. Thanks, i think thats what i am going to do. Like you say, so many cafe's and restaurants have free WiFi these days, plus i want to be enjoying my holiday and not be fussing over Facebook or Instagram.0 -
You can get a three pay as you go sim free from the three.co.uk website, or in most pound shops/Tesco etc for about £1
With the feel at home programme you can use it in Ireland and use any allowance as if you are in the UK. Note that pay as you go calls/data etc are chargeable at EU roaming rates if you don't have an allowance.
If you top up £5 you would get 150MB of data allowance starting on that date + the £5 credit. You could use the £5 for text/calls or convert it to 500MB of data if you needed more data allowance than the 150mb free with every top-up. That probably would be enough for a short trip as long as you use wifi for things like video calls etc. that use a lot of data.0 -

That's already been suggested.
Though as you can get 200mb a month completely free on Three I'm not sure there's even a need to top up.0
