I'm glad you have an appointment with your GP - that's a good start.

Are you going to be able to phone the DWP?

Thanks Tellit. Do you have any idea why it might have taken so long for them to process it yesterday. It was still in a queue waiting approval when I called at 4sih yesterday and I just had a feeling it wasn't going to be done. I expressed this to the guy but he was unwilling to do a thing to chase it or make sure it was done for yesterday.

This is only a guess, but if you were told it was in a queue waiting to be approved it suggests that a processor had raised the required paperwork in the benefit centre and it was waiting for a team leader to approve it, thereby releasing it into the banking system for payment. If that approval didn't happen for any reason, the internal DWP system automatically rejects the request after 3 hours. Processing staff only man offices until 5pm at present, so if the team leader realised after that time that the payment hadn't been released, and it had dropped off the system it's possible there was nobody around to re-input the payment request.
No help to you, but hopefully shows it's a human error thing and nothing directed at you personally.
Please keep us advised of progress.

See if they will help you then, Anxiety and other disorders should not render you to be housebound completely and perhaps look at seeking help for this would be an idea, You may take this the wrong way but in my opinion here it seems that your placing these stumbling blocks in your own way and need to address this first and foremost.

You clearly have absolutely no understanding of mental health problems. A very good friend of mine suffers with OCD and depression. He may seem to function pretty well normally for days or even weeks at a time, and then, as he puts it "It's like somebody has flipped a switch, I just can't function" He has no idea when it's going to hit him, how badly, or for how long.
When it hits he literally can't go out of the house because he becomes panicked that he hasn't done something at home. He's fortunate that he has a wonderful wife and family to support him, not everybody is so fortunate.
Before he was affected by this, he was in very well paid work and doing long hours. Given the option I can assure you he would far rather be leading a normal life.
"Snap out of it" isn't an option.

Thanks. That is exactly what happened. I'm frustrated because I knew that was going to happen when I called at 4;20 yesterday and the man wouldn't do anything or look at it.

Today the advisor I spoke to this morning told the payments team NOT to email me. I've requested that call is listened to. I called them at 12:30 and the payments team called me 5 minutes later and apologised and actually explained the problem which I think is great. I wish they'd always do that.

    Thanks for your support.

I've emailed mind and will make sure I go to my appointment at teh GP. I think my anxiety is worse because of the football celebrations in Leicester. It's been noisy all hours for a week and I find it tough to block out. Luckily my GP is very close to my flat.

I call that feel Schrodinger's oven. :) I hope your friend gets some proper help too. Unfortunately a lot of people think mental health problems aren't serious. Luckily there are also kind people like you in the world.

That's not what Steve said though.

Exploring ways to cope that could help OP to accomplish some of the things that she finds difficult is clearly a good idea.

I doubt that all options of help have been exhausted.

Apparently they're going to but it hasn't happened yet :( It will do soon i hope. I'm trying to be positive about it now. The last person i spoke to sounded like a real person and spoke to me like one. I get it's a tough job they have but some of them are patronising.

With many people it isn't intended to be patronising. Some claimants do need things to be explained is very simply language, and an unintended consequence of that is seeming to be talking down to people who do understand well.
I used to work with one person who often sounded like that on the phone - even to the rest of those working with them. When it was raised as a concern they genuinely didn't understand what they were doing wrong. They had previously had difficulty with somebody needing the process explaining over and over, and simply felt that by keeping the explanation to very simple steps they would avoid a repeat of the situation.

Exactly but no point in saying anything to TELLIT01 as they very clearly have blinkered views and believe everyone is taking the mick, I'll not get into a tit for tat with them as it simply is not worth while.

My posts state very clear that I am not trying to offend and they do list as much, We do get a lot of idiots on the forum that believe it is there way or the highway.

OP hope you get sorted both with the money you are owed and also on a personal level to learn some means of coping and getting by better in life.
