Better cashback from Halifax or NatWest?

Our Halifax account is our main account, although I mainly use my TSB card for spending small sums, to get the 5% cashback for contactless spending.
But if a shop doesn't accept contactless, I'll use my Halifax card.
It'd be about 3 or 4 small transactions a month, and this is enough to generate offers.
But the offers are mostly fairly useless. Mostly pub or restaurant chains I don't use, shops like Wiggle or Menkind I've never heard of, etc.
I got a BHS offer recently which was useful, and I occasionally use Body Shop, Harvester or Pizza Express. I've managed £19 cashback since the scheme started.
I'm going out in a couple of weeks, and would really welcome a Pizza Express offer. But you never get an offer when you need one.
It's a nice to have thing, but it's not good enough to make a special effort to get.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Keep an eye on Tesco gift card offers as well. They've been flogging off Pizza Express at 20%/15% discount for about half they year. £50 spend gets 150 clubcard points too! It's a nice to have thing, but it's not good enough to make a special effort to get.0 -

Agreed.
As we're going out mid week, I normally manage to find a discount voucher on line for Pizza Express, but the 10% from a Halifax offer would be a pleasing bonus.Early retired - 18th December 2014

If Halifax offer 10% off at Morrison's, you could buy Pizza Express gift card there, and also get Fuel Saver coupons into the deal.0

Unless they're specifically excluded in the t&cs.0 -

I never ever get Morrisons offers.
Probably because I shop at Sainsbury's and use my Sainsbury's credit card there, to maximise Nectar points.
In any event, our nearest Morrisons is at least 10 miles away and too inconvenient to go to, even for a 10% cashback!Early retired - 18th December 2014

If you could buy some big ticket non-perishable stock up items that are all on offer it might be worth the effort, or home delivery fee.0 -
That's true, although Morrisons don't deliver in my area yet. It might work for other people thoughEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Nothing to say you cant buy gift cards in the T&C's I have had Morrisons offers on my cards.
A mixture of 5% off all purchases for a time period, or 10% one time offer.
All of the above I have bought Amazon vouchers, and got fuel vouchers as part of it.
I have then got the 5% back the following month.
I have used Harvester offer but there are not many other offers that are of use.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. I've seen nothing to suggest it's done on quantity of transactions as opposed to amount spent though - so aren't you just blindly gambling that your £1 purchases will get you offers? In fact, as Peacefulwaters said, maybe the transactions are actually stopping you getting the offers you want!
That being said, I use my Lloyds card extensively and never use my Halifax card in the UK and have a long list of offers on Lloyds and not many on Halifax. I tend to get the same supermarket offers on both cards however. Given no-one has the slightest idea how this scheme works, planning £1 purchases at certain stores seems a waste of time.PeacefulWaters wrote: »Take a student with you. 40% off! No need to plan anything - just buy a £50 giftcard and use that for any future trip you make there. It's what I did.PeacefulWaters wrote: »Unless they're specifically excluded in the t&cs.
That's somewhat irrelevant considering Lloyds/Halifax have no idea what you purchased - hence why I always get the 10% back on cashback too (i.e. free money!).0
