Yep, another for Page Street. It was in my mind too. Used to visit the Regency Cafe regularly! Been used for film sets and everything - popular place!

Bloody hell, didn't know Greenwich only went to Cannon St now! That's a bit of a surprise!

I used to also get the 507 from Victoria too - it was a very easy little journey. If it's still running! I presume it is.

Marylebone (/parts of Baker St) is lovely too - only 3 stops from Oxford Circus to Pimlico, although you would need to walk to Oxford Circus.

Greenwich trains are only not going to Charing Cross until August 2016 while the new London Bridge platforms are built.

No, they're never going to Charing Cross again.

How do you feel about crossing the river and looking at Battersea/Wandsworth and Clapham? All in close proximity to Pimlico.

You are quite correct. My apologies.

I misunderstood a sign that I saw at Greenwich station this morning.

Personally I'd be looking for a commute that doesn't involve the tube. At rush hour it's just horrible - I used it (for one stop) this morning as there were problems with my normal route, and it reminded me of why I avoid the tube. But apparently a lot of people aren't fazed by it.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

lol exactly - but it adds a fortune to your property, and people worry about being on overheads. Not everyone can afford (or want to!) live in Central London, most of us commute. I'd not want to commute by tube for all the tea in China! tbh, if it's just a stop or two, I usually walk or prefer a bus!

How about Brixton? Easy commute, good social scene and at end of the Victoria line so you always get a seat on tube.

Brixton Village is great and for £500pw you should get something nice for your money with change for the travel card (zone 1-2 only required).

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, I will sit down and work through them over the weekend.

To answer some of the questions you've asked: I'm happy to walk from Victoria or Vauxhall, I will need the exercise (and I've got the option of the bus if it's raining).

I can probably stretch my budget to £600pw, I don't want to leave myself without enough disposable income to enjoy London.

No snobbery about going south of the river from me, although it seems to quickly get dodgy the further you go from the river!

I'm not a fan of rush hour on the tube either, but my hours are flexible so I could avoid the worst of it.
